Al,

Looking forward to meeting and sailing with you.

Yes, the launch ramp is right next door to the marina.  There is a small fee to use the  payable in ones at a registration box in the ramp parking lot.
Once in pull your trailer over the marina and they will tag and store it securely for you during your stay. There is electric and water at the dock too if you want to cool your boat down in the evenings with water spray and/or a household fan (bring extension cord and hose). It might be pretty hot.

On a serious note, I would like to ask the attendees to keep those water cannons pointed away from Island Time. Not that I care if I get wet, but the Nikon D-SLR ($$$$) doesn't take too kindly to water blasts, and I'll be using it to get photos for the DVD throughout the event.  However, during the CLR Cup Race it will be stowed so fire away!

a good idea mike. im hoping that this year i remember to take a lot of pictures of boats in the parking lot before launch as we didnt have many last year. sarah and i will also take a lot of pictures of everyones boat rounding the windward mark during the big cup race. i am hoping to get a lot of good action shots at that time. the competition is expected to be intense.

Mike:   I'm surprised at you! Do you think that asking people to point the water cannons away from you is actually going to work? Why not put up a sign that says "Please soak me, please"!

sarah bought a waterproof camera for a reason, ( well it was really to take underwater pictures of an 8 year old). i for one will not shoot your camera mike, ill save my ammo for a 23 ft boat. i do expect that my catalina will be a popular target.

Good idea, kick...a 23 footer will be easier to hit too!

Bob, maybe I should put your sign out.  People tend to do the opposite of what I say, so that plan might work!

Regarding the boxed wine... I just spent a week on ky lake, and for the record out of all the libations the boxed red wine was actually quite a nice change. I slept remarkably well that night, despite the bit of headache in the morning! It went well with a can of refried beans and some cajun blackening seasoning on tortillas.  On the other hand I used the wag bag suggestion after reading the many positive reports, hmmmmm not  my cup of tea, used the backpacking disposal method after that. Though some mornings you just don't want to swim ashore...I have never had a porto smell like that wag bag, maybe I did something wrong...

i know that everyone has their favorite drink, be it wine, beer or something more potent. i would have to say. however. that the concoction that ginger puts together, i forget the name (who hit john comes to mind) could be considered the official "clr libation. here that ginger you better make gallons (plural) of the stuff for this years sailors. shes a good girl that ginger.

since i plan on sailing tomorrow, im going to call the corps of engineers at carlyle lake and see is the lake is flooded. im thinking that hazlett will be closed. this is just a little info for clr attendees. we have had flooded conditions at previous events but dont be concerned there is a high water ramp at the west access that works well in these conditions. as we get closer to the clr i will post any important info here regarding the marina, access to the lake and camping.

yesterday  was the 1st day in the last 20 with no rain.

i set the mower blades at 4"  and i was still cutting 8".

i just returned home from a morning bike ride.  went down to the far end of our lake to check out the dam.

only about a foot of water going over, but riding closer to the water, the bike tires started to sink in about 4' above the the water line.

towns along the illinois river have voluntary and mandatory evacuations ongoing.

because of the high water, our lake is no wake, which makes for great sailing when you don't have to watch for wake boats.

not sure if we're going to make CLR this year.

things are getting complicated at work and with the north carolina property.

i passed my sgt. exam/interview and as soon as my grade comes from sprinfield, i'll be offered the spot.

with the promo comes a new shift and days off, which means bye bye vacation.

i have 2 personal business days still, but i may need them for the nc closing.

if we do come down, it will only be for 2 days and sans boat, so we'll be looking to crew with others.

I was over at Carlyle a week ago Thursday and put in at Hazlet. The water was plenty high and the ramp to the docks actually went uphill a bit. Got in and out OK though.

kickingbug1

im sure by rendezvous time the lake will be back down. the corps tells me that hazlett ramp is flooded and that the high water ramps are open. will,  did you mean that they had partially pulled the docks? rich and i were gonna try it tomorrow but now im thinking he would be making a trip for nothing.

Umm... not sure you understand that you are required to attend. This isn't an option. I'm sure your new bosses will understand. Are we clear on this? good.
Bob23   This is more incentive to bring my boat out there.
