Bob, I was thinking something along the same idea.  Post or P.M. something and I will work on it.  I will bring my strings along but everyone will have to listen at their own risk.

history will show that this is how "it" all got started

I will pm something soon. I just had a pm from another member who suggested some very fitting lyrics. Sounds like a few of us will be co-writing this song.
I'll be bringing either bongos or my cahon...or both!

Have a plate for my trophy already, so scratch me off your list. I plan on attending this years CLR, still working on getting the wife to come.

roger, sorry i didnt get the plate made. this year bigger (more interesting) trophies. gotta get the little sailboats for the tops. i think last year the trophies were for first place in the big race, axle grease, prettiest boat and ancient mariner. is that right? i also have to get (race buoys---i think those "bouncy balls" kids have a yellow and a red should work. rest assured that the "race" will be all sorted out. no confusion this year. thanks buddy see you in july. pass along my personal invitation to your wife. in other words "she better show up"

I like my untitled trophy just the way it is. That way I can lie about what it was for. No one has to know it was for furthest travelled. It gives me a chance to make up all kinds of stuff: rescuing a damsel in distress from a wicked king who lives in Castle Carlyle. Breaking the speed record on a Bridgestone bicycle while cycling under the influence. Consuming the most warm PBR's while fending off water cannon wielding Compac-o-nauts.
The list goes on...Plus: Mine already has the sailboat on top.

It is really hard to believe we receive trophies for the things we do at CLR's.  A slap on the wrist, a citation, expulsion, or Darwin Awards yes.  Trophies???

as any past clr attendee will tell you the event is far from structured. it is loose relaxed and at time partially sober. anyway, i was thinking that we should add some activities. we have the meet and greet on monday night, and the race on tuesday (late morning) with the awards dinner tuesday night. in the past i think we pretty much just sailed and met at a predetermined raft up spot. this year i had mentioned the possibility of a night sail. i realize that not everyone will want to do that and maybe their boat isnt equipped for it. i dont want anyone to feel left out but i dont want to institute a bunch of silly rules. our race markers can be reused and sarah and i are willing to be the "committee boat again and set the markers. another idea is kind of a "lake bingo" thing where each boat gets a list of things they have to observe (they then take pics of these items either with camera or cell phone). items like fishing boat, sea gulls. cormorants, jet skis,or even beautiful catalina sailboats. at that nights dock party the results can be presented with a prize to the winner. in the past the sailing has been enough to keep everyone interested and the raft ups, especially the spot we used last year were lots of fun. what i want, mainly from those of you who have attended in the past, is suggestions, ideas and concerns. i think i have ironed out some of the confusion that took place at last years race so that should go pretty smooth. and it would really be no problem to have another race. i dont want anyone to feel that they have to "race". and any clr sailor will tell you that you dont need to be a experienced  "racer"  (except matt the odds on favorite). anyone can just cruise with the fleet if they so wish. well, let me know what you think. and i assume everyone will have "serious" water cannons.

Kick:
I think you've captured the spirit of the CLR. Although I've only been to one (shame on me) I felt totally at home with the unstructured structure. I was having too much fun during the race to pay attention to who was winning! Meeting all you old friends for the fist time was far and away the high point of my year!
I will show up with a complete version of "Margaritaville" but just slightly tweaked with a Carlyle Lake slant. I have a few verses done and will bring my bongos for the percussion part. If I remember correctly, there are some guitarists out there- we're gonna need you! "Livin' on 2 stroke. Man I am so broke. Drivin' from Jersey out to Illinois". You get the idea.
A big thanks to you Kick for all the work you put into this wacky gathering of Compac-o-nauts! Can't wait.
