My 16 is for sale - I have had some interest but nothing firm yet.If I still have the boat, I plan to come over for at least a few days of CLR. Depends on schedule at work...

fyi-----carlyle lake is flooded and the high water ramps are the only ones open. however it should be good my rendezvous time.

I was looking to take my Horizon Cat out this weekend on the Illinois here in Peoria but the river is at 25'5" (flood stage is 18') and the Corps has the river closed to all recreational traffic.  It's really a shame as the boat is sitting fine at her floating dock, I can still access her and because of the high water there isn't anywhere I couldn't go.  Obviously the current is very strong in the channel and I would think some idiot would go out there, fall off a PWC or have an engine problem and get into some real trouble.  We had three drownings in tributary rivers and streams last week at least one involved alcohol and a float tube (guy got pinned against a brush pile at a bridge and pulled under).  Calling for more rain tonight so don't know when the river will reopen

i cant say when we will get back on carlyle. before the rendezvous for sure though. if however the lake is still up come rendezvous, the highwater ramp at west access is a good one with a fixed dock (i think all of the docks are fixed). anyway we have had past events with high water without problems so anyone coming this year need not worry. as always i will be available to help with rigging, launching , retrieval, and parking vehicles. to be on the safe side i think everyone should have something to float on as we may not be able to "stand up" at the raft up site like we did last year.  mike and brenda make sure you bring the floating bar---or two.

thanks mike.

the thought is very much appreciated.

the issue is what shift i'll be working and if i can manage a swap or two with someone for more time off.

joanie has already informed me that we WILL be attending CLR if even for just my weekend.

we haven't cancelled our reservations hoping everything works out.

Speaking of trophies, Gerry Hutchins sent me some cool Com-pac swag to give away as awards.
Hard telling what prize categories I'll dream up for them but rest assured they will be deserving.

Bob, just to let you know, I'm not accepting bribes until the actual event. I do not accept these "clams" you speak of either.
Only in NJ would people think this was a valid form of exchange.  They would go bad on the way out through your detour of Ontario and Michigan, and frankly I don't really like clams too much.  Too chewy. Now a few choice live crated Maine lobster and we might have a deal. Or Cash or liquor.

a couple of reminders, things to bring: folding chairs (for the dock parties), cameras (we need lots of pics for the dvd), binoculars (well, i dont see that good anyway). some sort of comfortable floatation device (the lake may be too high to stand at our raft up location) coolers ( i know pretty basic huh,) any mixed drink fixins you might want to share with the group, (ginger's "who hit john" concoction was pretty good though).----

Steve.  Is there a full schedule available for the week?  It is probably posted but I cannot seem to find it.  Wife is still contemplating coming along and would like to see it all "sorta" mapped out.  I realize that it is a bit loose, but any sked info would be appreciated.  Thanks

al, over the years we have kept this a laid back event. as previously stated monday is the meet and greet at the winery. the big race will be either wed or thursday depending on the weather (which has been iffy everywhere). the night of the race will be the awards dinner (the presentation of the trophies and gifts, carl's standup, a jimmy buffet trivia contest and much food and drink). the time in between consists of sailing, rafting up, and dock parties everynight. im thinking a night sail might be an option and since it seems everyone has a smart phone---a video scavenger hunt on the lake. the hunt would consist of a list of things participants would have to photograph. i also have considered a "practice race" to be held a day before the "real thing". we always seem to fill in the time with something fun. i would really like to do the night sail but i realize that everyone's boat may not be equipped for that and many sailors are leery of sailing after dark (although if you have never done it ---it is quite the experience). i hope your wife attends as i know she will have a great time. the people are just fantastic and its those folks that make this event so much fun. we do still have almost a month and any suggestions are welcome. i have kept the structure down to a minimum and the atmosphere as relaxed as possible.

leave it to the greene's to come up with this one. this years clr will feature. now get this, a jimmy buffet trivia contest. now i have to tell you im more of a guns and roses guy than a parrot head but this could be big fun. for all of you who know mike and brenda you know what i mean. anyway, this is just a warning to all clr sailors to warm up those computers and study up on the "wonder?" that is jimmy buffet. and i thought just trying to look like him was bad enough.  reminder this years awards dinner is a jimmy buffet theme. so break out the flowered shirts and plastic parrots.
