it took some finagling, but joanie and i WILL be at this years CLR!

the il supreme court upheld the lower court's ruling that the state must pay us our full pay on the 31st.

no word if we'll get paid after that, but i'm not one who put's his entire life on hold because "something" may happen in the near future.

the plan is to arrive monday around 9am and depart friday evening.

i haven't been inside the boat this year, so this week i'll be busy cleaning and setting everything up.

steve,  i'll be bringing 3 outboards this year.  just in case. ;)

This is awesome news! Carl, I have a spare pair of oars you can use as an auxiliary! They use regular fuel and HI TEST!

Good news for Carl!! However my coworker will be out on medical and I will only be able to sail Monday and Tuesday. Evening festivities are still on my schedule for the rest of the week! See you all soon...

Carl, Use the same fuel everyone else uses, none of that special water based fuel, Okay? :)

Glad it has all worked out.

And Bob, we have room on the 19, but dont think youll be boating with folks that have a clue what they are doing, LOL, This is the first time back on the boat since last year sometime, and we are both wondering what we even remember currently, LOL

Mack:  Sailing is easy...it'll come right back to you. The stick always should point up and the pointy end of the boat goes first. The rest is just details!!! See?

stepped the mast yesterday.

shroud caught the teak runner for the sliding hatch and split it. i'll try to fix it before making a new one.

opened up the boat and was greeted in a most unfriendly manner by the wasps whose nest i knocked off while sliding open the hatch.

power washed the deck this morning, but it still looks dirty.  outside teak is in bad shape. (will there be a trophy for the worst looking compac?)

the jeep is in the shop having a new "relay" installed that should solve the trailer light problem.

i would have taken care of this earlier, but it really didn't look like we were going make this year's CLR.

once again things have changed.

joanie and i will not be attending CLR.

i spent the morning scrubbing the deck and decided to make 2 new teak hatch rails.

pleased with the results of the 1st one, i began cutting the dado on the second rail, that's when i cut a beautiful dado through my middle and ring fingers.

of course it has to be my dominant (left) hand.

4 hours in the e.r. and the end to CLR for us.  the dr. is worried about further trauma and infection.  he says because of the amount of tissue removed, it could take 6 months to heal.

monday morning i see a plastic surgeon.

i've had this type of injury in the past, so i know what to expect next.

i'll look for posts and pics to sail vicariously through.

Carl,

Dr. Gardner prescribes one Manhattan seven to fourteen times a day to handle the pain.  I tipped my middle and ring fanger on my table saw.  I feel your pain!

it couldnt happen to a tougher guy. im surprised that the blade didnt break. my heart does go out to joan however. cant imagine being your nurse. sarah and i are pretty much bummed by the news. it wont seem the same without "Miss Adventures" and her crew in attendance. we will soldier on in true "crazy Carl" fashion. i know i speak for everyone when i wish you good luck and tell you how much you and joan (well, joan) will be missed.

i took photos of the injury in the e.r. if anyone is into shop accidents!

with carl a no show who can we get to do the stand up. is steve martin still working( or still alive)? i know he hasnt been funny for a couple of decades. and bill cosby. well the ladies wouldnt be "safe" i suspect.  i know how about donald trump. hes pretty funny at times but maybe too expensive. as is bill clinton. after much thought maybe bobcat goldwaith or howie mandel. granted neither is as funny as carl so us old guys wont hurt ourselves laughing.  get better carl. you may not be the best stand up but you are still probably the cheapest. now i have to go get that mental picture of you getting a spounge bath out of my mind.
