clr attendees, it has been suggested to me that along with boat names, type, and cell#s that i also add sail numbers if you have them. would make it easy to id individual boats at a distance. either here or the e mail   fordtruck52@yahoo

No numbers on my sail just the ComPac emblem.  How many Eclipses do you expect?  Making reservations tomorrow and really looking  forward to it.  Spent part of the day putting Off The Wind back together after the trip home from Florida.  Launch day next week into Pistaakee Lake, Illinois.

No sail numbers here but you can identify us by the smell of coconut rum and island music reverberating off the coaming:

Bob won't need sail numbers.  You'll be able to identify him by smell too, in this case PBR. Then again if you smell ginger, he's probably into the Dark and Stormies.

Crazycarl will be easy to identify as well.  Just look aft of the bimini....

Sorry cc, I guess you may never live that one up...hehe

I wonder if the race wouldn't be better to have on Wednesday. or even Thursday.  It's sort of the highlight of the week and will let everyone have a chance to sail for a few days, get to know each other and of course some trash talkin' during the week.  Seems anticlimactic to have it too early and it worked out great in years past to have it later in the event. But of course will go along with whatever is decided...

Bob,

I've got the next verse for you...

"Racing the Compac.  Whisker pole jam on a port tack.  Had to cut my sheets off and luff on back home"...

Wasted away again in CLR-ville.

That's great! I'll use it. Btw, this is gonna be a long song.

Hey Mike:
I also fly those "Econo-bims" on Koinonina, both port and starboard. Another way you'll know my boat is by the bow. We'll be so far behind everyone else!

mike, you had a great idea. that makes so much sense. im hitting myself.  .ill post it and see how everyone feels. some might leave early and i do want everyone to make the race. as usual someone needs to smack me before i do something stupid.

Just a thought anyway, nothing is in stone and I agree to ask others if that works Ok for them.

Maybe sail then the winery on Monday.   Tuesday sail and dinner nearby (Keys?) then the Nightsail.   Wednesday sail then to the nice restaurant Popeyes, then race Thursday with party at the marina Thurs night.  Or you could switch the race and marina party to Wed and general fun and Popeyes for dinner Thursday if folks will be leaving.

We're leaving Friday morning, but until then anything goes...

a good friend and long time clr attendee has come up with some great ideas for this years clr (see salty 19s post under clr suggestions). he thinks and i agree that the big clr "cup race" should be held later in the week. so if possible we would make the following changes. the meet and greet will still be monday night at bretz winery (i will try and get one of their private rooms this year), tuesday would be a meeting at the dock followed by a day of sailing with the traditional raft up festivities. tuesday night would be a dinner at one of the three good resteraunt in the area and of course the dock party (every night). either wednesday or thursday could be race day, preferably thursday. the awards dinner could be either night. a night sail could easily be worked in weather permitting. i understand that everyone will not attend for the whole week but i sure hope that those who want to race can do so. near the end of the week i and others will be available to help retrieve the boats, get the rig ready for the road and help move vehicles. contact me either here or via e mail if these changes present a problem,  thanks to all----especially mike

Sorry about that, I did say that...but we are staying longer. Guess I forgot to mention that. :(

Oopps...

I'm game for whatever the flock thinks is best based on everyone's schedule.

Sorry again about the confusion.

That would work fine for me and I may not be arriving until Monday evening. I'm rowing the Blackburn on 7/25 in Cape Ann Massachusetts and the earliest I can depart NJ is Sunday afternoon. But I will be at CLR with some boat or another if I cannot tow the 23  all the way out thar. Still weighing the costs of such a journey.

Are you sure that isn't me?  I find myself in that position way more often than I care to be in it. ...
