June 9th has favorable tides for me to run the inlets, a waxing gibbous moon, and might be early enough in the season to avoid the crowds at Tices Shoal. Come on 4/10!

Okay as of today(April 1st) these are the weekend dates we still have open this summer.

June 9
July 14, 28
Aug 4, 25
Sept 1, 15, 29

This doesn't take into account the CBMSG 2018.

It's gonna be a busy summer! :D

Well CBMSG 2018 is set for 8/4/2018. That puts us in with the same gathering of sailors as last time with more to follow on it's own thread.

Meanwhile we are gunna be gone to Ocracoke in June, then the construction of a new brewery and it's resulting move will happen over the next several months. That in reality will dictate our schedule. We also are already committed to a couple music festivals in late September and early October. Mumbling about Annapolis and the boat show, prime time for Chesapeake sailing, yada yada. Here's what we know, our time is not totally ours to command for a few months, but we could think of nothing as pleasurable as simply messing about in boats with folks up there. Please pick your dates and send prayers that we can make it happen. Our little 16 is itching to go sail BB.   :)

I like June 9 and Sept 15 or 29

Problem with July and August are too many power boats and green flies.
Sept 1 is too close to Labor Day.

Kinda like the idea of 2 BBB's. Gotta get at least one right.

Well mates, what say ye? Shall we cast the vote for June 9th for the 2018 BBB version 1.0? I think we could stay on a roll and pull off 2 BBB's. Location yet to be decided but let's do it!!

MKBLK

I've marked my calendar! Hope Pegasus is seaworthy by then (still messing with the *&%$ scuppers!

Great. Brian, did you catch your typo? It's June, laddie. Not July.

Finbar Beagle

Err, July 9th Paris time, June 9th Barnegat local time.

Week 2 of French based working.  Spent last week in Granville, Normandy, where every other sailboat is a Beneteau racer/cruiser.  My French colleagues were polite, they understand the "sturdy over speed" Compac life philosophy, they comment on the "salty" good looks of my 19, but strongly assert the benefit if their thin skinned and short lived Bennies.

But the food, cider and calvados are superb.

So I am confirming June 9, maybe with My anchor/admiral, but I will definitely be there weather permitting.

Great, you have the month and day correct! I hoist a Guinness in your honor!
Have you ever read "Godforsaken Sea" by Derek Lundy? It's the story of the 1996-1997 Vendee Globe solo circumnavigation which ventures into the Southern Ocean. The book contains some interesting history of French sailing and racing. Well worth the read...you can borrow my copy is you'd like.

Finbar Beagle

Bob,

Sounds like good reading.  I can offer you a book on Barnegate Bay, the Closed Sea, by a local Rutgers Professor.  Not best reading, but interesting local history.

Will have on Board on June 9th.

Okay June 9th it is!

Someday we will be able to make it. :( As mentioned we already have plans for Ocracoke Island at that same time but will lift a glass for all. Maybe can see everyone for CBMSG on August 4th. :)

Interlude splashed late last week and am heading down tomorrow to finish commissioning her for the season, meanwhile as i write this I am sitting here watching it snow. Winter just won't let go.

August 4th it is!! I'll do my best to be there!!
Brian, thank you...I have that book and it's quite interesting with all the local history. I enjoyed reading about the inlets that used to exist just nahth of Tices....across from the Tom's River and nahth of that, too.

Eagleye

Okay, June 9th has been penciled in.  That will be a definite, 100% maybe for sure.  It is hard to imagine since it is still in the 20's at night and we still have snow in the yard.
