Hey me hearties! Now that the much anticipated Mid Winter Gathering has come and gone, it's time to start thinking liquid water and warm winds. As the self appointed emperor of the BBB, I'd like to get the ball rolling early so weigh in with some possible dates, wouldja? I'm thinking this year of two, yes you read that right- two Barnegat Bay Bashes! I'd like to propose the first be around weekend of June 15th or so. The only dates I can't be around are the week of June 25th (CLR) and the weekend of July 20th (Blackburn Challenge).
So there you have it. And you guys think I procrastinate!

Bob,  it looks like Floatchella has been on July 23 & 30th last two years.  It might be best to avoid the crowds.

Might wanna avoid August 4th as well, though not announced yet it will be the date of CBMSG 3.0 so as to coincide with the marina party we have been part of for last two years.

I also vote for avoiding the big power boat crowds!

Thanks for the input, gents. Glad we're starting early!

I guess I have to start polishing the anchor------

Keep up the good work Bob!

I say why be locked into Tices Shoal as a location? I plan to scout out a few alternatives.

And nahth of Tice's is a nice secluded cove with a narrow but kinda deep channel running in toward the beach. Not the govnahs mansion...nahth of theya! Lot's of choices and we're getting a good jump on things. And...a few of us have discussed the possibility of not just one but two...yes you red that right- two BBB's for 2018. Stay tuned, kids!!

Finbar Beagle

Only issue with bay north of rt 37 Seaside Bridge is good ramp for launching.  Drum Point Marina is one option, but shallow.  I now winter at Beatons and use lift to get my bottom wet.

I'm not talking nahth of the bridge, only nahth of Tice's. We could still make the same marina as our home base but we're not limited to Tice's Shoals as it has become a breeding center for yahoos!

wow.. this is not the old procrastinating Bob23 that I used to know!    good for you.. two BBB's in one summer sounds like you have your priorities straight.. now for retirement..     although I won't be able to make it down to the bay, for yet another summer event.  i did note that you will be up this way around the 20th of July..   and we are closer to cape anne than we have been in years past.. and we have a spare bedroom..  so  take an extra day off and  plan a trip to Georgetown while you are "in the area"..    best of luck with your planning and to all who have the good fortune to attend..  jt

Bob23

Hi JT! I am the same old procrastinating Bob23 that you know but these days I'm finding it difficult to get around to procrastinating! Life and time are short and not to be wasted! Yes, I should book an extra day (or two) and drift up your way after the Blackburn. My old phone met an untimely end after a confrontation with gravity and I've lost all my contacts. Can you PM me your shoe phone #? Thanks. Hi to Janet. I'm making a note on my calendar to visit you after the race.
Best to you! How's the 23..still under wraps?

Finbar Beagle

Good move to keep marina base on forked river.  I liked the hospitality and ease of use.

I got confused that alternate site were under discussion.  Now clear the overnight anchorage may be up for grabs.  Silver Bay-cactus island is not bad, but if no wind it is fly island...

Nice thing about the Bash is our flexibility as to where we can meet up. Tice's is nice with the walk-over steps which allows nice swimming in the Atlantic. I'm glad we're starting this early. Stay tuned as this story develops!
