Looks good Ryan, at least someone is sailing. Our first sail will be on Saturday. We will try to get to Tiki bar by 6, could be an hour wait or so for a big group.

Well, BBB-2018 part one, has come and gone. The weather gods were especially kind this weekend providing surprisingly very nice sailing conditions. On Barnegat Bay, the wind blew fairly steadily at about 5-8 knots, nice.

I met up with the gang, Bob & Linda, Kevin & Lesa, Dennis, Ryan and Brian at The Tiki Bar at The Captain's Inn in Forked River, NJ. It's always nice to get together with CPYOA members for a good meal, drink and to talk about our sailing adventures. The food and drink were fine and the music, well, it was LOUD but well played. Just what you would expect at the Tiki Bar! The conversation went great although it seemed at times there were just lips moving! What? Sorry! Say again.

I headed home for the night (a soft bed, yes) as did the others although Brian, brave soul that he is, stayed with his Picnic Cat with a certain amount of fortification.

Saturday morning dawned bright and sunny. Not much air in Forked River, but the bay was waiting for us with ideal conditions. Brian and I shoved off from South Winds Marina (a really nice place) about 930 hours and headed for a rendevous on the bay. We met up with Bob and Kevin/Lesa somewhere in the middle. Ran side by side with Bob for a bit. Koinonia looked absolutely wonderful showing just a bit of her bottom. I wish I had been able to video the scene, but I was busy at the helm of the Picnic Cat.

Speaking of the "cat". What a nice ride. Quite roomy since it is all cockpit and has a decent beam. For a boat that weights only 450 lbs. she really felt solid. Brian kindly delegated most of the steering to me while he worked out the finer points of rigging the cat. We went out reefed, but after a while Brian let the reef out and we enjoyed the full effect of the wind. The cat moves along quite briskly and we spent much of the time at full hull speed.

Closing, it was a great evening and day and thank you, Brian, for sharing your ride with me.

P.S. Great mini video Kevin!

Great vid, Kevin and yes, I did miss it. But...where was I? There are a few possible answers.
1. While sailing, Jimmy Buffet landed his seaplane next to me and we flew down to Key West and had a few Dark and Stormy's together.
2. I was hijacked by a ship of southsea maidens disguised as nuns and held hostage until I managed to escape with just the clothes on my back.
3. I wimped out, fearing a lightening storm which never materialized and missed out on a great lunch.
Go ahead...judge me, but escaping from a ship of nuns ain't easy!

Kevin,  nice wok on the video.  I used it to convince Ellen into registering on the site so she can see.  We watched together tonight and it was the first time see saw the Picnic Cat under sail, and the first time see saw Dorathea.

We specially like the part where it looked like Lesa was "fork fighting" with my mast.

All the best,
Bbrian

Great video Kevin and it was nice seeing everyone at dinner on Friday night. Bob, I've seen those masquerading nuns on the horizon before and knew to flee! Freedom had a short sail on Saturday afternoon and I made my mind that it's the boat for me. Brain the new to you Picnic cat looks great, you're a true pirate for overnighting it her.

I'll follow the forum for the next BBB dates, summer is always crazy so keep me posted if there's an impromptu overnight at Tice's unrelated to the next BBB. I'm also looking to overnight in Atlantic City if Dorathea is up for a long adventure or perhaps on Dennis's Morgan. We chatted about an anchorage in a very protected cove or if in the mood to gamble, there are slips at the Golden Nugget for $3/ft or across the water at Gardner's Basin for $1.5/ft. There's a little village setup at Gardner's basin with a small aquarium.

Ryan and Co.,

Thanks for the pirate acolade, but for the record, I slept in car at marina.

But I did continue to  fortify myself until past 1...never did see the nuns, but will start looking closer now
