Well said Mas.

Looks like I am sailing solo for the first BBB of 2018.  Ellen was just called up to deploy to Puerto Rico for 30 days for her FEMA job. She leaves on Monday.

Renaming ceremony is still on, but may need video evidence for the missing admiral missus.

Unfortunately, it looks like I need to back out.
1) It turns out the girls have a dance recital that weekend.
2) The boat may or may not be even the water yet.  All the rain has set the yard back, and I still need to have a cutlass bearing replaced, so they are not sure they can get it in next weekend or not.

Bummed.  Among other things, I really wanted to see Brian's new ride.  Perhaps we can do a mini.2018 later in the season.

Sorry to hear that Larry. And we do plan to another full blown bash later in the summer...if we can all get out of jail after this first one. Best to you and Lexi and the girls.

Finbar Beagle

Larry,

I did not even know you were a serious dancer.

I am looking for crew for the Saturday Picnic Cat sail to Tices, and back...so if you had 1 free day...

Next BBB I plan to be on the 19, but can tow down the Picnic Cat for late night, parking lot, man overboard drills, if needed.

All the best,
Brian

Just booked slip at Southwinds for Friday & Saturday night.

Will be at ramp Friday afternoon, and shall plan on pulling out either late sat or very early sun.  Ramp closes around 6pm, so just in case, I can pull out at 6am on Sunday and make it too work.

Brain, who did you speak with? Is Shawn still there or someone else.
While on this subject, in the past I sort of handled the arranging of the boat slips at Southwinds but this year I thought I'd be simpler if each one of us arranged our own. Is everyone ok with this?
As a reminder to everyone, the BBB 2018, version 1.0 is 12 days away! Guess I'd better bend my sails on and install the bloody rudder housing. Poor Koinonia sits in her summer slip #53 with no rudder. Just finished up the alterations today and will hang it tonight, if it can stop raining for a few hours!

Finbar Beagle

Bob,

It was not Shawn, but the same lady as last year.  She was closing up at 4pm, so I need to contact later to confirm payment, on Tuesday or after.  Many Shawn's wife? She was real nice.

$48 for both nights and an additional $10 for the ramp fees.

Galway Terrapin is floating, with her new IDA rudder.  Bended on the main, former Phil Junk main,  and "old" working jib yesterday.  Tomorrow, after Manasquan Memorial Day Parade, is first sail.

Regards,
Brian

Thanks Brian...I hoist a Guinness to ya!! I'll call on Tuesday to reserve my slip. I plan on the inaugural sail tomorrow sometime.

Reighnman

I'm working through a host of issues but I'm still holding onto hope that'll everything will be resolved in the next two weeks. Hopefully the mechanic calls me on Tuesday with good news, or at least not wallet disappearing news!

Ahoy, BBB-2018 part 1 ComPacOnauts. Although things seem to be coming together for Pegasus to be sea-worthy come the fateful day, I still have much to do. I don't think Pegasus will actually be ready to sail (although the scuppers will have been repaired - that job was actually a lot easier than I envisioned - and lost sleep over). Made a new cockpit/cabin hatch that looks pretty good. Just needs sanding and finishing to make it almost waterproof.

Brian, if you still need additional ballast, I can do Saturday. Let me know.

Well, Marty...I do hope you can make it for the 2018 BBB #12 as crew for Brian. I understand your wanting Pegasus to be completely ready to sail, given ah....um...your, shall we say- track record?? Stay tuned for the 2018 BBB version 2.0 coming up this summer sometime. Fair winds to you!!

Finbar Beagle

Marty,

You are more than welcome to join me.  Just remember, at 14 foot and open cockpit, we will need to keep sharp eye on the local conditions.  And remember, this is manly open boat sailing, so no luxuries like a porta potti, so be extrra aware of the wind direction and at those key moments....

I plan to be back at Sothwinds dock by sunset on Saturday, if the bay gods are willing.

Regards,
Brian

Brian,

Firstly, I don't think I'd notice the missing 2 feet!

Secondly, I've gotten wet before... Bob's dink makes a great diving platform!

Thirdly, what's a "porta potti" ?

My only concern is how high is the boom off the deck? Should I bring my helmet?
As an official septagenarian plus, I don't duck terribly fast.

Lastly, read the quote on my posts.

And thank you for the kind offer, I'll take the upper berth.

Regarding "Serious Dancer"
Yes, I'm a "Serious Dancer."  You would "Seriously" not want to watch me dance.
My girls, on the other hand...
