Marty, had a perfect rare northern wind, 12-15 on July 2, it was great.  Full main, but kept hanker on jib ready to raise, but it sat on deck all day.  Yesterday, the southerly returned, but blew about the same.

I am still learning boat, and increasing range each sail.  My target for July 4 is to make it to route 37 bridge, about 1/2 way Tices shoals for me.

Regards,
Brian

Here is a working link for that video Marty mentioned. :)

JERSEY SHORE TRAILER SAILERS

Stay tuned for Bash update soon. I'm thinking of a repeat of last year where some of us stayed overnight at a reserved slip at Southwinds Marina, which is near the Lattitudes restaurant where we'd eat dinner Friday night. Let me clarify the word "repeat". What we don't want is a repeat of the weather and wind last year.
More details coming soon. What I'd like is a headcount of slips I need to reserve. Saturday night will be spent at anchor over at Tice's Shoals where just over the dunes, the ocean swimming is the best.
Stay tuned..I haven't forgotten about the BBB. I just spend too much time working and not enough playing!!!

Finbar Beagle

Marty, thanks for the video link of the Compac power squadron at last years BBB.  I remember that day, and I ended up in the Manasquan reservoir on my Bauer 12.

I fear my Torqeedo egg beater my not be able to keep pace...

God has intervened, and my wife volunteered me fo my Church picnic that Friday.  I need to figure out the timing, but wind and waves permitting, I am planning to be down midday sat, and return Sunday.

This may be first night spent in boat.  Not sure if wife is ready to meet Bob...

Oh Boy, so I have conflicting events planned for this weekend turns out. Looks like dinner Friday night and sail Saturday but not staying overnight at Tices. Lesa wasn't staying overnight anyway so maybe now she'll attend if it's only a day sail and lunch for her. :)

PS. But there is a good chance I'll just cancel out on the other event. ;)

Yeah...cancel that other event. Now. Do it. Don't think about it. The Bash will not be the same without you!!

K3v1n

Okay Okay! Done, consider it canceled! :D

Ah. We know you'd come around.
So, let's get down to business. How many of you brave BBBers will be wanting a boat slip at Southwinds Marina which is adjacent to Lattitudes where we'd be having dinner Friday night? Our general plan would be to meet there after you trailer sailor guys launch at Townsends Marina or the launch site of your choice. Townsends worked fine last year.
  What say ye??

Please advise estimated costs for the slip.

I think it's the same as last year- 10 clams but I'll call today to be sure/

Bob,
Depending on the weather, I may come down on Thurs. morning and leave on Monday.  That will give me more tome to explore the bay.

That'll be great Allen. Remember to polish up that anchor!!!
  Slip fee update:
First, the bad news: Slip fees are $2.00 per foot. Per night. Yikes!!! This is the same rate as last year.
Now, the good news: As the chief instigator, director of shenanigans and head of the warm weather hydration counsel, I am offering to split the fee with you for Friday night. If you choose to stay longer, the additional nights would be your responsibility.  I have already reserved 5 slips on a handshake from Sean, the harbormaster. I would like an actual number of slips needed so I can nail it down by next week sometime.
The itinerary, if there was one, would be to meet on Friday during the day. Last year anyone who needed to launch met at Townsends Marina where there is a 5 bucks in and 5 bucks out fee. Parking is available. At some point in time, the boats who would be staying in the Southwinds slip would meet there and check in. Dinner will be at Latitudes and I'll make a reservation for all of us. Hopefully, the weather is good so we can dine outside. The boat slips are just a short stagger away from Latitudes.
On Saturday morning, we'd have our choice of going to breakfast or just sailing over to Tice's to reserve a spot. We usually anchor out a bit south of all the yahoos so it's a little quieter. Once over at Tice's, there's the customary swim in the mighty North Atlantic as well as just hanging on the beach. Remember, there is no restaurant at Tice's Shoals. Any food or drink you want should be brought aboard your ships. Tice's is on Island Beach State Park, a barrier beach which is quite rustic.

Let me know how this sits with y'all. I'm sorry for leaving this until the next to the last minute...lots of stuff going on. So, what say ye? Are ya with me??
