What's the address in OBX again, Heave?
Need to put it into my GPS.
Dreaming of a SunCat
A Horizon Cat would be great too.

Perfect! Susan, after you come down for CBMSG we all can car pool down to visit Heave! Sure it won't be a problem for them!

Hmmm...actually since weekends are the problem for you, worst case scenario is that we all hook up for the car pool down to OBX on Monday!

A few week with Heave......what could be better?
Dreaming of a SunCat
A Horizon Cat would be great too.

Mas

Well, the summer is soon arriving and we all know what that means!.......

For those of you who have been there before, the Locklies Creek location of Merrior now boasts brand new floating docks. This totally changes the ability of our small craft to tie up while we tie one on! The marina where CBMSG 2.0 will occur will have some new travel lift construction well underway and also boasts newly dredged fairways back by the ramp.

Missed going out last week for the first time this season, zero wind each day till convection breezes set in late then died at sunset. Kayaks got used at least! Of course the wind finally settled in as we were returning home. It simply is great to be on the water no mater what boat you have under you! Hope everyone else is enjoying the return of the sailing season. :)

So tomorrow is the first day of summer and we all know what the middle of it brings! Can taste those cold ones already.

PBR for the masses!!! Can't wait!!

Mas

I can see it is going to be difficult to have you become a born again drinker! PBR IS for the masses. We try to stay out of the herd! Just put a great summer session IPA on tap that is from one of our local breweries. One of these days you may just have to come visit here and we can show you around the promised land of beer, wine and distilled spirits. This is not a place to practice temperance.  :)

Bob23

Well, to be honest about 2 things: one, I am a born again drinker. Two, PBR is not my favorite! But don't say nothing!!
I'd love to visit...sounds like my kind of place!!

Mas

Well Bob if you do head this way ever you may wish to block out several days for visits to the literally dozens of breweries, dozens of wineries, and several distilleries. We live here and can't keep track of them! It truly is the promised land.  :)

Will bring some to CBMSG. Who knows maybe some day we should also do a Charlottesville Brewery Mid Summer Gathering!

Meanwhile so we don't get to far from topic.........T minus 45 and counting.

Ah...finally on the water again on our own boat, on our home waters......so good to be back! Sending good vibes to all at CLR and all your Compacteers out there yearning to slip those lines. Heading down towards Windmill Pt. then hopefully riding the wind switch predicted back home.

Yo Kev, the local sailmaker from Ulman slipped by yesterday just as i got down here. He commented that he absolutely loves the PSC 31 and is stitching up a set of sails for one in the Great Lakes and wanted to double check a measurement provided by the factory against ours. His one time sailing one (the one that was in Deltaville) told him that once his kids are grown and he can take time to cruise some he's gunna have one. This is the guy that just won his class in the Annapolis to Newport race a couple weeks ago. Oh....that's right "it's all Rick's fault!"

Bob, your dirty little secret about the PBR is now out there!

Tim, the weather back up in our neck of the woods at home has been pretty spectacular. Hope you guys have been getting that boat wet!

Susan, the other, haven't heard how that SunCat thing is doing! Know the weather has broken long ago up there for sailing season to begin. Is there a birthday greeting due?

Pedro appears to be in Annapolis, hmmm....anytime Ive been there it seemed to cost much more than simply the cost of lodging, food and travel. A ton of boats for sale up there!

Heave, if you get withdrawal symptoms from parting with Saga you know how to solve that! The only problem is that when we sold our 23 we ended up with boats 7 footish in either direction afterwards. Just be forwarned.  :)

Hmm...Susan is usually excited when i have such "responsibilities"! Come to think of it she did seem a little disappointed i returned a bit early from my trip to the boat. Wonder what that means.....oh well!

Ok the calendar says July 5th and that means it's now only a month before:

Chesapeake Bay Mid Summer Gathering  2.0

The gathering, cookout, small craft flotilla, and party is set for August 5th. The cocktail hour is 4ish with music, hotdogs, burgers, cold drinks, beer and wine to follow . A $5 buck contribution is asked from all to the small sailing club having their/our gathering there at the same time for all the food, and drinks. They have encouraged me to have us Compacteers join them yet again, well we are still part of that group too! It was also asked that we kinda split up bringing a side or condiments for the burgers and dogs etc. to go with the same and other sides being brought by others in the club. Be glad to help coordinate that for us.

The pavilions are shaded and covered with, ice, cool clean bathhouses, and the usual amenities available. Very parklike there. We don't have to wait until 4. We are planning to get the antique dinghy wet. Bring some small craft easy to transport, there are also a few kayaks and canoes that are on site. Nice islands close by. Check out  http://www.regentpointmarina.com  for location, directions, and general lay of the land. Do try to come for more than just a day, as there is much to do and some great places to visit very close by. Reach out about places to stay if planning to come for the weekend or longer. Know Kevin an Lesa are staying across the river at Tides Inn which is a uber nice spot. Last year live music was played till late so bring an instrument if inclined.

Good food 100 yds away by water or 5 minutes by road where we have eaten before just to provide additional venues to visit:  https://www.rroysters.com/restaurants/merroir

Now how's that for back on topic! Will keep this reply stitched into the inevitable drift that this wandering group of sailors will be guilty of over the next 30 days It'll be here before ya know it!

So here's what we know:

Kevin and Lesa
Bob and escort! (Sister Merry Blond?!)
Pedro and Becky
Rick and Susan
Tim and Vickie (probable, something about bad pennies!)
Jimmy Buffet (as the theme is Cheese Burger in Paradise)
MFF (invited, don't worry Bob and Kevin, just for looking!)
Wayne and Phylis  (?)
Dave and Sandy (sold our 16 to us)
...and a whole bunch of other sailors that call our little place home port

Now that means we still haven't heard from a couple of the usual suspects (We know Heave will be in the OBX and missed) and always welcome new folks that have not considered their reputations important. As we approach the two year mark for our return to sailing it still amazes us that the folks we have met on this forum now feel like friends we have known for years, some of which it appears we owe a ton of beers with each other. :)
