Can't wait for this epic event!!
What instrument do you play, Rick? I can play a mean kazoo which is disguised as a PBR can! Maybe I'll bring the Cahon. Or bongos. Or congas!
Still trying to find a date. Or a prune.

We'll have to plan on bringing our dinghy, the Takacat Lite affectionately named 'Nermal'. :)

Ok.....I'm still not sure this is something that will be of service but........I've arranged for Sister Merry Blond, fresh from 24 days at sea, to be in attendance for this event. So...now you have a date! It also appears that MFF will be there as well, and this now means you will have two ladies to pay attention to. It is the most i can do!

Meanwhile sending good weather thoughts your direction.

Kevin, since you all are down for more than a day bringing your Takacat dinghy might give you some good options for putzing around. Going out on a kayak inna bit, no sailing today with weather turning this afternoon and gotta get back home later today as well. Looking forward to seeing you guys.

The little sailing club here said that the $5 from everyone should cover you but that if it is not inconvenient they would appreciate a covered dish from each party. I will try to find out what they believe they would need the most. Mostly I am seeking some final numbers by next week so they can plan for the grill and beverages. I will repost the particulars along with my understanding of numbers again soon.

Ok here's the particulars:

Alright we are a week away and oh so close to Chesapeake Bay Mid Summer Gathering  2.0

The gathering, cookout, small craft flotilla, and party is set for next Saturday August 5th. The cocktail hour is 4ish with music, hotdogs, burgers, cold drinks, beer and wine to follow . A $5 buck contribution is asked from all to the small sailing club having their/our gathering there at the same time for all the food, and drinks. They have encouraged me to have us Compacteers join them yet again, well we are still part of that group too! It was also asked that we kinda split up bringing a side or condiments for the burgers and dogs etc. to go with the same and other sides being brought by others in the club. Be glad to help coordinate that for us.

The pavilions are shaded and covered with, ice, cool clean bathhouses, and the usual amenities available. Very parklike there. We don't have to wait until 4. We are planning to get the antique dinghy wet. Bring some small craft easy to transport, there are also a few kayaks and canoes that are on site. Nice islands close by. Check out  http://www.regentpointmarina.com  for location, directions, and general lay of the land. Do try to come for more than just a day, as there is much to do and some great places to visit very close by. Reach out about places to stay if planning to come for the weekend or longer. Know Kevin an Lesa are staying across the river at Tides Inn which is a uber nice spot. Last year live music was played till late so bring an instrument if inclined.

Good food 100 yds away by water or 5 minutes by road where we have eaten before just to provide additional venues to visit:  https://www.rroysters.com/restaurants/merroir

Now how's that for keeping on topic!

So here's what we know: (the little sailing club would like to have some general numbers confirmed by 8/1)

Kevin and Lesa
Bob and escort! (Sister Merry Blond, confirmed)
Pedro and Richard (so what happened to Becky you may ask)
Rick and Susan
Tim and Vickie (probable, something about bad pennies!)
Jimmy Buffet (as the theme is Cheese Burger in Paradise)
MFF (invited and confirmed, don't worry Bob and Kevin, just for looking!)
Wayne and Phylis  (still waiting for conformation)
Dave and Sandy (sold our 16 to us)
...and a whole bunch of other sailors that call our little place home port

Now that means we still haven't heard from a couple of the usual suspects (We know Heave will be in the OBX and missed) and always welcome new folks that have not considered their reputations important. As we approach the two year mark for our return to sailing it still amazes us that the folks we have met on this forum now feel like friends we have known for years, some of which it appears we owe a ton of beers with each other. :)

Please send photos of Sister Merry Blonde and MFF!

Sadly, Vicki and I will be unable to attend.  Work will keep me within 15 miles of my home port on Saturday.  Money talks, the gathering walks.

Apologies in advance of the gathering.

Let us know how you want to do this. Do you want to pick up the stuff and we"ll give you cash later? Or should we plan on finding a store to grab some chips, potato salad etc.?

Bob, these are blind dates, though you have seen pictures of MFF, remember?! Sister Merry Blond is planning to make Mudslides as a desert offering. Should be your kinda gal!

Kevin, the sailing club folks said that just the $5 contribution would be fine though any contributions in food would be appreciated. Our dock is supposed to bring pasta or potatoe salads or the like. Do what seems easier for you guys! Mostly we are looking forward to hearing about your new boat and adventures!

Sounds good Rick, if we don't bring a dish or something we'll just give them a little extra ca$h.

RICK.....
If we show up early do we get a tour of Interlude? :)

Oh, right. Gotcha. So a sailboat and Merry Blonde are my dates. Sounds like trouble to me!! Gonna be lots of horsin' around!

Mas

Kevin and Lesa,
you are clearly going to get a "tour" of Interlude. It is our job as your friends to tempt! Thanks for setting Bob straight on MFF! Mary O'Hara , the author is a Jersey Shore girl.

Bob,
Sister Merry Blond, AKA Mindy, is just off a 24 day trip to New England by sea. Stories will be told! She also does a mean Dark and Stormy.

We will also need to set two lanterns for the arrival of MFF.
