Ok, straying away from my procrastinative roots, let's talk about the 11th annual gathering in Barnegat Bay, NJ more precisely Tice's Shoals.
At the recent Mid Winter Gathering, I was challenged to get moving on this so here I am.
July is a nice month up here so let's start by narrowing it down to the month.
Ok...conversation started.
Next up to bat?

So to get the ball rolling here is July. How about the weekend of the 22nd or 29th?

We're on the same page, Kev! 7/22 is out for me: Blackburn Challenge. 29th would work. Keep in mind that CLR is from 6/26 through 6/30.

Ok got the 29th in our calendar! A little early to bring up CBMSG 2.0 as it is not even Spring yet (soon though!), but since we all were kicking around dates thought it would be prudent to throw it out there for general planning purposes as well. Last year it coincided with a cookout and party out at our marina. This year that is scheduled for August 5. Will get a thread going for this down the road, but thinking maybe might look at a repeat (minus the heat). Pedro has some ideas about other venues as well. Who knows, maybe we can talk him into bringing up that beautiful tug for BBB! Meanwhile will be sure to have Mas all polished up for BBB! (Bob you did say something about waving all fees for us!) Tice's shoal may never be the same!

Heading down to The Bay inna couple days for the annual Sock Burning party (Bob reminded us to remove the socks first!), meanwhile it was back to the snow as mother nature provided a much needed boost to slope conditions.

Just looked at the tide charts for 7/29 and it'll be an incoming tide all afternoon at Barnegat inlet which would make it possible. Still a big sail from my inlet but if the winds are forecast for a downwind sail, I might be able to swing it. If not, I'll definitely be up for drinks at Latitudes sans boat.

Rayz: you would have no trouble sailing in the bay up to Island Beach State park although outside is more direct. I just heard that the coast guard has closed Little Egg Inlet due to shoaling. I haven't looked on the CG website or anywhere else, just heard it from a friend. It seems lots of sand from the beach replenishment projects has filled in the inlet during the nor'easters we're having. I'd hope they'd have this dredged out by summer.

haha, your friend is me, bob, I posted on here about it. For our size boats, we just hug the southern tip of LBI and shoot straight up. Was just talking to my Dad and we can't remember the last time we actually went through the channel out to "Bell Buoy".

The sail in Barnegat Bay seems easy enough, it's getting to the causeway bridge that seems like a boring motor or a very tricky sail in the water way. If I did come up, the plan would be to motor back home so don't want to basically motor 3/4 of the 40+ mile trip. I first need to figure how to actually rig the boat and step the mast.

Ray: Let me know when you're down to the boat. I can meet you to help you stand the mast and rig. I've done it many times on my 23 before and helped on a 19 once or twice.

Ok Wayne, that's not a 19, you got a 16 hidden? Notice that the can has been tossed overboard! Jus sayin :)

Mas

though...you do have a different standing rigging set up for a 19. Maybe......

Still the can WAS clearly tossed overboard!

So is July 28-30 the tentative date we are setting?
