Guys -

Ukelele, bongos, kazoo - totally scary! BTW - I don't have a kazoo, yet... but, I do have a pretty big brass bell!! Poor fish won't be able to sleep.

Marty

Jt - I think we should leave our instruments home and shanghi your brother!!!

I have a number of rare, one of a kind kazoos that I accumulated while studying at Juliard. After graduation, I was encouraged to stay on to teach advance classical kazoo but decided to move into jazz bongos, congas and djembe instead. I can loan you any of the kazoos but my favorite is my early 1700's Stradivariazzo. It has incredible tone. Those old guys really knew how to build 'em!
Looking forward to the Bash. Which rhymes with Mash which reminds us all of that classic tune: "The Monster Mash".

so allen.. looking forward to hearing how the trip to the seneca lake went..  how is it looking for  this coming weekend?

bob..  looks like i might be coming down early friday morning..  i will head out as soon as possible..   looking forward to spending my first night at anchor!    let's hope that the weather cooperates..    jt

Bob23

Allen:
Hope you can make it...the more the merrier! You are a sure winner for the Best Looking Eclipse at the Bash Award. Very prestigious, indeed.
JT: Depending on wind direction, I'll be planning to arrive at The Bash around mid-afternoon or thereabouts. Also depends on work. I guess we could pre- talk via cell phone but I do not use mine while on the water. VHF is set to channel 16.
All: Looking forward to the Bash! Be certain that many photos will be taken and hopefully we can do a joint write-up!

Bob and JT,
Suzie and I were making every effort to make the Bash this weekend but while we were gone on vacation the workload at my job went through the roof.  That is a good thing for though.  I had to put my crew on 10 hour days probably for the rest of the summer.  There is no chance of getting time off this Fri., which means if I left Sat. morning we wouldn't get to Tice's until noon.
So we will sadly miss the chance to hook up with you all this year.  We were really looking forward to it.
Please enjoy the weekend and have an extra slushie for us.
We will take the Madame out some place close to here and will be thinking of you.

Regards,
Allen & Suzie

Well, Allen, that's too bad.  I know how sometimes work can get in the way. Let my know either here or by personal message if you're coming down again sometime. I'm always in the area and I'm sure JT and Marty can be convinced of a Bash #2 this summer or fall. Fall sailing on the Barnegat Bay is really great. I'll be looking forward to seeing your Eclipse!

well,   just survived a tornado warning  which appears to be headed your way, bob..    no damage in the immediate vicinity, but  it looks like there might be a fair amount of cleanup in the general north east pa  area..    what is the status for tomorrow, as far as you can tell right now?    jt

I've been looking at the weather on and off all day. Tomorrow looks iffy. If I were a betting man, I'd say- no problem, go for it. However, I did get caught over at Tice's one night last summer as a rather large front came through with thunder and lightening. We decided (a bit too late) to motor over to the mainland. Halfway across, it hit- rain, wind and lightening. It was not fun but we survived. Kinda scary, actually.
The weather tomorrow looks better than Saturday. The percentages of thundstorms has gone up from this morning. I'll give you a call in a bit.
bob23
(Marty, are you following the weather? Maybe we can talk via cell tomorrow am.)

Bob and company... ICH BIN KRANK!   :(  It doesn't look like I'll make the BBB-2012 - BUMMER! Got the worst sore-throat of my life after being cooped in a steel can for 20 hours with a 7 year old with Strepp! Really, really dissappointed. Hope to catch you guys on the bay later in the season. My wife even brought home a supply of kazoos to share! Oh well. Asi se la vida.

So sorry to hear that, Marty. I'll always be around so next time you come down, we'll get together and sail...BBB 2012 version 2.0!
Hope your on the mends, my friend.

The Bash was cancelled due to the threat of thunderstorms. In other words, I chickened out! JT and I spoke on the phone yesterday morning and considering the 40% chance of lightening last night, I decided not to chance it. Yeah, I'm a wimp but a wimp who'll live to sail another day.
Turns out, that last night was fine. Today was another story. I went out this morning and sailed south under the bridge into Manahawkin Bay. Coming back I was listening to NOAA weather and they were tracking a storm with high winds and a hail potential which passed though Toms River and heading East. In other words, right where we'd be anchored. Yikes!!!!!
We are discussing another weekend in September at this time. September is a great sailing month down here...the yahoo population has thinned out, fall is in the air and the winds are consistent, not to mention that it's cooler, too.
   Stay tuned, folks!!!!   Bob23

Good call, Bob.

The Madame is looking forward to seeing you in September.

Sorry that you had to cancel, but I'm excited about the possibility of being able to make it for the rain date!  I will be watching for the dates, and September gives me the chance to do a few more mods and repairs to our 16.  After spending the last week sailing her up in Ontario, a few things that need addressed became pretty obvious, but I learned a lot.  Hope to meet a bunch of you guys and learn some more!
