It's just a fun race KB1, you can run the race from your boat and participate.  Just set up a five minute horn, a one minute horn and start horn, from your boat.   If everyone has a watch, they'll keep up with the time to start.  Honor system on the finish, log your time as you cross the line. 

Difficulty may be if you have different boats, setting up the handicap correction.  You can use this:

I think most of the ComPac boats are handicapped on the list.

But it is just a fun race no one will really care.  Even the novices should participate, it will be a lot of fun. 

I'm still trying to determine if I can come.  Planning to take my boat 400 miles in the other direction for a family reunion and then stay to do B.E.E.R. through the first week of June.  Initial plans were to leave her on the Gulf Coast through July, going back for some cruises,  but the rendezvous tempting.

Greene - I think that's funny, our boats are the same color, the only difference is mine has a black bottom with a wide white stripe and no white stripe at the top.  You have a pretty boat though.  Can't figure out how to post a pic like you did. I think it would be fun to run the course just to see how to do it, and I don't mind coming in last, I just don't want to get in anybodys way.

I'm quite sure the racing will be taken less than seriously.  We're cruisers afterall.  All should participate..this will be a good opportunity for picture taking too.  No loss of dignity if you come in last, but buying everyone beer that evening "may" come up in conversation   Just kidding...

Question, Is a high aspect tilting keel allowed on my cp-16 for this "race"?  Been polishing the underside for two years getting ready fer this.
Are underwater electric thrust motors allowed?
I will need all the help I can get!
Lets race and no we don't need a committee boat, this IS for FUN.  We'll figure out the start/finish somehow.

I can see it now.  Two blue hulled boats battling it out for a very distant second to last place.

LOL, that's about what it will be - but looking forward to it anyway.  Getting ready to go for my first sail tomorrow.  Will post pics if it happens.  My grandson said he wants to go - soooooooo, we'll see.

We received an e-mail from Gerry Hutchins today thanking us for the invitation to the CLR.  He said IF anyone was in the area they would love to stop and visit.  He has the dates written down.  He also said that they would really appreciate some pictures from the event.

FYI everyone.  The West Access Marina rents slips for $20/night if you stay on the boat or $10/night if you are in a local motel or campground (bring your receipt for the campgrounds-they will call the hotel to verify).   That includes use of facilities (shower, picnic tables, etc).    I forgot to ask about water, gas and power availability.  These rates are for 20' and under boats.

They charge $80 in and $80 out for the hoist for bigger boats, but I don't see that applying to anyone who's confirmed.

Since this marina is within walking distance of the Microtel (roughly 1/5 mile), this is where Island Time will be sleeping overnight.
We can launch for free at Eldon Hazlett State Park ( a 10 minute drive from the motels) or pay a small launch fee next to the marina (I want to say it's $4, but dont' quote me on that). It might make more sense to launch closeby due to truck/trailer parking logistics if you are inclined to rent the slip.

I'll get their phone number to call in to reserve your slip if you're interested.

I pulled that up on Google Earth the other day and studied it real well.  I think that's where I'm going to stay.  I'l just throw out the hook somewhere up there in Allen's Branch.  Most of my extra money will go fot gas to get up there.
