What are you going to get your Compac for Christmas?

Right now it looks like mine is getting a pressurized water system and possibly a new anchor rode.

Who knows, maybe I will spoil her and get her a few more things.  LOL

I am still contemplating new sails for Off The Wind, my Eclipse.  The current sails are 2007 and although not totally blown out could be replaced.  I have been looking at a chart plotter or a Simrad TP-10 tiller pilot.  All great things for the boat but even if I give her nothing for Christmas, I am still hopeful to take her to Florida for Jan, Feb and march 2016.  A road trip for a Christmas present - sounds perfect !!
Pressurized water sounds like a nice addition and if you need a new anchor rode go for it.
Last year I bought a tiller extender and a lock box for her.  It really helped when single handed, giving me more time to put up sails or take them down.
My philosophy is there is always something that we can get for our boats or as my wife says my mistress.  If someone calls the house for me (unlikely...) and I am at the boat she will say he is with his mistress.  LOL
Have a great holiday season.

A new Autopilot from Anchor Express should be under the tree in a couple days because Santa got such a great price that he just couldn't resist any longer...

Which one did you get Steve?  I have been looking at thee Simrad TP-10 but have not puled the trigger yet.

Well, she needs practically nothing but new halyards would look nice. She got an early gift of a new Sailpro.

Boy...you guys are really spoiling your Com Pac. Next thing you know they will be leaving the mooring without permission and getting into all kinds of trouble.

Some nice stuff out there. Always remember, it's only money and you can't take it with you.  I would like a new sail but man are they expensive. Anybody got a used Main for a Sun Cat that's not all used up?

Al, I ordered the Raymarine EV100 for my CP27 which is on a large lake so this one should be fine and at $500 off I jumped...

Tom:
My Koinonia did just what you said: Broke free this summer thinking she'd go for a little sail on her own. Almost cost her her life. Dumb boat. She sure is pretty but she wasn't thinking that day. Still, I spoil her. She's worth it- prettiest girl at the dance.

(Ps: Who'd want to take it with them?)

Catawampus

Catawampus got an early present in September -  a badly needed new sail after 12 years.
This coming weekend she will get the best present of all when I travel to Florida with my brother who is buying her a new-used sister!
The Lake Murray Sun Cat fleet is growing!

We, my ComPac and I, are just hoping for some water to float in next year. All we got to do this year was hose ourselves down in the driveway.

Bob23, for Halyards try www.cajunropes.com for them.

I did three new halyards, main, jib, and spinnaker.  I also did other running rigging for my boat.  The price is hard to beat and they are good quality line.  I actually had cajun lines on my Catalina 30 for a number of years.

I am still debating in the water pump that I want to put on my girl.

Al, you might want to contact Judy B at Hyde Sails for a quote.   I met her at Lake Havasu a few years ago and she went out with us on our Mac.  She pronounced "you need new sails", which we knew.   I bought a main for our Mac that was much heavier than the OEM and had much better shape.  Cost was less than a replacement Doyle sail, and was much better quality.

She can tell you if she has the info for Eclipse sails (I suspect she does), and can give you a quote easily.  If I ever need sails again, she's going to be my first contact.

Hope this helps.

Probably are goin to spoil her some more but currently she has already been grounded, or at until April! Meanwhile, so she doesn't go get in any trouble after her grounding is over, she is going to be GPS locatable. her very own chart plotter! She is already excited about meeting some new friends that live nearby (PeterG and Beagle 3, HeaveToo and Saga). Some of us parents are getting together in January to talk about our kids and hopefully set up some play dates. :)

Thanks Heave:
I gave the job to my sailmaker. He's local and built me a great set of sails. I only need the 2 halyards, everything else is good for a while. Plus, the halyards are easier to change out now that the mast is down. I'm using my original fittings because they are of high quality...don't know if they are original. A previous owner obviously spent some good money on her for hardware, winches, etc.

miss adventure still sits in the drive awaiting winter storage.  hopefully tomorrow she'll be inside.

as for christmas gifts, she's been gathering all the supplies for a new paint scheme for several months now.

all the teak is in the shop with 14 coats (yes i went overboard) of cetol natural teak, and so far, 4 coats of clear high gloss.

cabin cushions are in the attic with new foam waiting for a reupholster job.

the rudder is also in the shop to be foiled this winter. (as it was last winter, and the winter before that)

new chainplates are on the list, as is new rubrail.

i was going to fabricate new eyebrows, but Compac sells them at a very reasonable price that eliminates the hassle of locating long enough teak pieces, or taking the chance of running more fingers through a saw blade.

new sails are always on the list, but will once more have to wait as $ is quickly disappearing.

funny thing.  i tried to convince the wife all these improvements are for her, as she could sit so proudly in a newly refurbished Compac.
but she some how doesn't see it that way.

women.  i can't figure them out.
