Since we hijacked No Mas' thread with this topic I figured that I would go ahead and place this here.

When:  January 30, 2016 (Saturday)
Where:  Dockside, Colonial Beach, VA  http://www.docksidetikibar.com/
Address:  1787 Castlewood Dr.,  Colonial Beach, Virginia  22443

I am hoping that this is a good location and we can pull some of the MD Compac Owners and a few others from around the area.

Dockside is a restaurant/bar on the Point of Colonial Beach.  It is located at Colonial Beach Yacht Club.  Usually they have pretty good food.  It is a popular local spot and sometimes they have live entertainment.

I am going to keep this rather informal.  We shouldn't need a reservation or special set-up since it has a bar area.  I can't tell if they will have live entertainment on that day but they might.  That usually starts around 8 or 9 though.

What time would be good for a meet-up? Would you rather do lunch 12:00pm or Dinner at 5:00pm?

Oh, Lodging in the area:  There are several local hotels, including:  http://riveredgeinncolonialbeach.com/  I believe that is an okay hotel but I have never stayed there so I can't say for sure.

Fredericksburg, VA is about 45 minutes away.  It is an okay sized city and there are plenty of places to stay there etc.  Also, Dahlgren is a suitable area as it is a Naval Base and right by the Rt. 301 bridge.

Time, place, and location can change based on the needs of the group but let's get the ball rolling!

Umm, Jan 31, 2016 is a Sunday on my calendar.  Do we mean Jan 30, 2016?

I will put it on my calendar, but it's a little doubtful to make it at this point.  I'm hopeful for an actual sailing event on the Chesapeake next year, because it's probably easier to get the Admiral to approve that leave.

I fixed it to January 30.

Bob, we are just trying to upgrade your tastes!  PBR=hangover water.

We still need to figure out the time and works well for everyone.  Either way, it should be a good place and a good time.  I don't think that there will be many of us coming but who knows.

Let's keep it going!

I really have a hard time navigating when I get more than 15 nautical miles away from the sail club, but I do want to visit my Great-great-grandfather's grave at Point Lookout sometime. If I can plan that trip for late January, maybe I could join your gathering. Will let you know for sure for head count as we get closer to that date.

HeaveToo

Lunch may be a good option.

Anyone else want to weigh in?

No Mas here! Been down with the boat, hmmm...almost sounds like a disease! Anyway pretty sure those dates will work.

So Bob23, you just need rifle racks on your boat to go with the PBR and 4x4! You're still welcome though. :)

Will keep all posted.

Hmm..you are about 4 1/2 hours from me as the 4x4 flies. That's not nearly as far as the CLR (14 hours) and I had no problem driving out there. Consider this a serious warning!!!!

Mas

Well Bob23,
I hope you will make it! PeterG filled me in about you over lunch one day (don't worry it was good!). It appears No Mas and Saga will be playmates as they are in the same neighborhood together.

Well Saga will be a not far away playmate but jus down the road I meant Beagle 3!

Ok all, just putting it out there again as a reminder for a mid winter gathering of Chesapeake Compac owners. We have at least three of us on board and a threat from Bob23 that he just might attend (you know the financial enforcer, ..er i mean officer, for the forums) I know I saw a CP16 in Kilmarnock last month, know there were a couple Compacs for sale in the middle and lower bay area, so we know you're out there!

Don't miss an opportunity to get together after the holidays add some 12oz ballast, grub, and talk about the "other woman" in our lives while planning some spring cruises in our little corner of the world.

This seemed to b a good mid-point for both lower and middle bay folks. HeaveToo says it's a great place for such.

This should be a good time at a good location.  I don't know if there will be live entertainment that evening because I can't seem to find the schedule on it.

Either way, it is water front....VERY water front (on the tip of a Peninsula).

I hope we pick up a few more.

I HEARD THAT!!! So now I'm gonna make an extra effort to crash your little party!!!!  And I know I shouldn't bring up business here, but your check bounced and my cousin Vinnie is not happy...no, not happy at all. So Vinnie, myself and uncle Vito are gonna pay you a little visit, see? It's nothing personal, just business!!!

Ha!!! Looking forward to this and if humanly possible, I'll be there. I've already run this by the Admiral and she isn't too enthusiastic about it so I may just bring the "other woman" along. Hahaha!!!!
Bob23...marking the calendar!

No Mas,

Not to stray too far from the topic, but just a reminder that hard labor on an Admins boat, and of course plenty of good beer, will call off Bob's "dogs" from the hunt.

Was thinking about coming out there to visit my cousin in Baltimore about then, but it doesn't look like I can make it after all (having surgery and will still be laid up).
Well..maybe next time. Have fun, and watch your back when Bob "Soprano" 23  is around. Trust me on that.. :)
