4th ANNUAL MID WINTER GATHERING...

...of the East Coast Compac-o-nauts!
Yup, boys and girls: What time is it? It's time to talk about the 4th annual Mid Winter Gathering. If you have no idea what this is, rather than making me babble on here, do a quick search. But since I'm in the mood to gab, allow me to enlighten you:
Each winter for the past 3 winters,  a bunch of us decided to get together for a dinner or lunch at a mutually agreed upon location here in the NJ/PA area only because it was central for those who were at the first one. Simply put, it is a nice way to help each other out through the winter when we'd really rather be sailing in the caribean!
So, I am hereby proposing that we think about sometime in the mid to later part of January, 2016. In the past we've had such dignitaries as Tim Gardner (please bring Vicki!), Capt and Admiral Elk, JT and Janet, Marty and Barbara  and please forgive me if I have forgotten the names of some others...I could look it up but I'm too lazy on this sunday night.
Please consider attending this gala event, ladies and gents! Once we get some idea of who and where you are from, we can pick a place. Last year it was lunch on the Delaware in Lamberville, NJ and the walk around the shops was really nice afterward.
We deliberately do this in January so everyone can recover from Christmas and it kinda signals the official start of the I-can't-wait-to-sail season!!!

Hey Bob:

Count us in.  We will be leaving for Florida somewhere around the 21st or 22nd of January, so your idea of mid January sounds good.

Um, by the way, since when have you NOT been in the mood to gab?  And no, this doesn't mean I will be picking up the tab...

     Yours for gabbing,

In a complete about face to my procrastinative ways, let's plan on January 16th or 17th? And Brad, thanks sooooo much for picking up the tab for this. You really are a swell guy. I owe you a 6 pack of PBR- in cans, of course!!!!

Elk River

Yo, Bobster:

I will certainly pick up the tab and hand it right over to you!  I've been in the Garden State enough to have learned some of your ways...

You can keep the PBR. From what I have read on this site, I would be better off drinking several years old bilge water.

Ok, fine then. I owe you a 6 pack of fine 10 year old Compac 23 bilge water. It's just ready to be tasted. Aged in a 30 year old fiberglass barrel!

I been thinkin'... (smell the smoke?) maybe Moshulu at Penn's Landing in Philly or The King George II Inn in Bristol PA. The Moshulu$$$ is right on I-95 and George II$$ is minutes away from I-95. Neither joint is dirt cheap, but the food is very good and both restaurants are on the water. George II has view of the Delaware River and Burlington Island, Moshulu is opposite the battleship New Jersey). Weather permitting (don't worry, it won't!) we can eat outside (or drink dark & stormys, won't care if its cold).

I'm going to try and make it. I'll know more once you guys choose a location and date. :)

Who are you and what did you do with the real Bob23?   :)
Suzie and I will mark it on our calendar.

Thanks Bob...

Allen:
I was gonna procrastinate but I couldn't get around to it!!! The real Bob23 is alive and well and trapped in this old farts body!!!

We have not decided on a location yet but in the past, after we got a real roster together, we tried to pick out a place that was kind of central for everyone. Strangely enough, most of the places were very close to Marty's house!!  Let's plan on having a final roster by November's end then we can decide on a place.

Bob23

Ok. Quite contrary to my procrastinative ways, I'm suggesting that we consider Moshulo for the 4th annual MWG of the East Coast Compac-o-nauts, hereafter known as MWG #4. The honorable Marty suggested this in the past and the Admiral and I were discussing it tonight. I've eaten there before- our daughter worked in a restaurant on LBI that also owned Moshulu. Your thoughts? I'm trying to keep this as local for everyone but close enough to lure Tim and Vicki.

This is great, fellow Compac-o-nauts!
Repeating myself, I'd like to have a complete roster list by November 30th. That should give everyone enough time to decide if they really want to throw in with this lot of sailing wharf rats. In the next few days, I'll post who I think is coming thus far. Moshulu is really a great place for this (thanks Marty!) and is about as central as it gets. Some of us will be travelling a distance but it's worth it as previous attendees can attest.
    More later....

4th Annual MWG of the East Coast Compac-o-nauts update:
The official roster that I have so far is:
Bob and Linda (dats me, folks)
Brad and Lily
Marty and Barbara
Jason and Janet
Allen and Suzie
Kevin and Lesa (maybe)
Tim and Vicci ( I hope so)

January 16th, 2016 at Moshulu, (see above). Although we've chosen a place and date, we have not discussed whether lunch or dinner would be best. I'd like some feedback before I call for a reservation. As you can see above, the only maybes are Kev and Lesa who are personal friends so I'll check it out with them, and Tim and Vicci. Let me know, Mr. Gardner, if you are interested in throwing in with this lot!

Looking forward to this epic event and thank you to everyone who attends. You are the reason this is THE Compac event to attend!
