Mike:

Last year Lily and I launched at Townsends and parked (at their suggestion) on the wide apron between the street and stored boats.  They charged for launching and retrieval but not parking.

Ditto, me too, Mike. Pretty easy launch and retrieve. 5 bucks in, 5 bucks out. And I'm sure you'll have plenty of help.

Marty

P.S. Don't worry, the Captain's Inn will help drain your wallet.

This year's BBB is shaping up to be a great one! And we'll have the legendary K3vin aboard, the originator of the original Barnegat Bay Bash but I think it was called by another name back then.

That's really great! I hope K3vin is pleased with your new moniker for this enjoyable event. Looking forward to meeting all at the Inn and when we drop anchor at Tice's.

A slight misspelling on my part. It's K3v1n. Ha!!!  This is just an alert to start training for the inevitable dingy race that made it's debut last year. I don't know how many dinks will be there, but I'll have mine and we can do a timed race! And...there may be a first place prize! We have a few handicaps: Kev just underwent shoulder surgery recently and can't lift anything heavier than a 16 ounce bottle of beer or Dark and Stormy (his choice) and I may have retorn my right rotator cuff in which case I will be lifting many beers and dark and stormies!!!
Last year there were 3 contestants: My self, Capt. Elk, and Marty. Although it was an unfair race (I'd be training for the Blackburn), the final results were closer than I would have guessed. It's all fun.

lol.....The very first one was called the  'Com-Pac Convergence' back in 2007 but later changed to 'Barnegat Bay Bash' because we let other vessels take part.

I found some of my old adverts. :)

Is your brother coming to the BBB? We'll allow him but we have a strict "no politics" rule. Well, it's not strict, just understood.

I just put deposit on Com-Pac 19 "terrapin" in Loenardo NJ.
Wii need time for her refit, so will be on Barngat 2016.

Current boat, Boston whaler harpoon 5.2 on bay now, in brick, nj.  Don't be surprised to see me try to sneak in.

It is a good day....

Hey, Finbar Beagle - Better not let Bob23 find out! He's loaded with 24 pounders (or is that PBR?). Nah, just kidding, just bring along a copy of the deposit or else! Geez, am I starting to sound like Bob?!

Thanks, MKBLK, use day, just sold BW Harpoon, now down to stealth Bauer 12...might need to get inner tube to tow cooler.  Last sail with "Waterford" today....looking forward to weighted keel again

Well, at least the Bauer 12 will be harder to hit with Bob's 24 pounders! Plus, I've got an 8' inflatable for that cooler. :)

I know that BBB-2015 is fast approaching, but don't despair. If you can't get the 19 in the drink on time, I'm sure you can find a ride with one of us. I know that I'll have an empty bunk... but, if you want more comfort there will be somewhat larger CP's there; even a Precision 21.

P.S. That Bauer 12 looks real sweet. I just bought an old 12' Super Snark to hit the local lake with my grand-kids. Only weighs 50# and rigs in 5 minutes, so is easy for an old dude like me to "toss" on top of the wagon. The 300# Bauer would be a bit much for me (if only I were 40 years younger!).

Em and I had a blast at the BBB last summer. Anyone looking for crew? One 6' adult and one 5'5" 12 year old girl. We'd stay at a motel Friday and then just need someplace to sleep on Saturday night. We could bring beer, food and -- dare I say -- chips. I do snore sometimes but Em's good company.

Cheers,

Sean

As a a first timer, I'm curious about logistics on this.
It seem Dinner Friday.  What time?
And are reservations needed, or does one just crash on the place and look for rowdy behavior?
Also, do folks generally get a motel for Friday night then launch in AM, or launch and get a slip, or what?

I'm sure there is some variability here, but looking for suggestions?

Larry

ps. Really hoping to see Alan and his Madame Z, if he can make it.  Alan, I hope your hip is improving.

Larry:

Marty is the chief instigator, Bob23 is doing the legwork.  They will probably need a headcount for reservations for dinner and slips.  Last year some us of slept on board, either in the water or on the hard, another boatless party utilized a motel.  I am sure more information will be forthcoming this week.

I was a guest and very much a newbie last year but my sense of the basic flow, in 2014, was this.

Friday night we all met for dinner at the Captain's Inn. Someone, probably Bob, reserved a table for all of us. We ate, drank and talked. My daughter and I spent the night at a motel, three people slept in two docked boats and one (Marty I think) slept in his boat on a trailer. Some people launched Friday and docked at the Marina, one launched early Saturday morning and one (Mike) launched somewhere else nearby (maybe early Saturday?). Bob and Marty can fill in what the official plan is for 2015.

Saturday, we met up for breakfast and packed the boats with food and gear.  We headed out to open water from the docks on Forked River. Some of us, sort of, kept in touch by radio. Some impromptu racing ensued and also a great game of "Where's Marty" (almost like "Where's Waldo" but played live on the water). Eventually three of the boats anchored near each other. Then we went swimming, ate dinner, drank and talked. Bob graciously hosted Emily and I on his 23. Sometimes the boats were rafted up and sometimes not. I believe some anchors drifted in the night, which kept things interesting, but all was well. Next morning Mike and Cathay rafted up with us for breakfast. More talking, swimming, dingy racing, etc. All of this was very impromptu and informal. One really cool thing about the location (a surprise for me who did not know the area) was that swimming in to shore (Tice's Shoal) and then walking across a road lead us to a huge sandy beach on the broad ocean (Island Beach State Park). Great beach! About lunchtime or so we headed back to the marina.

So, all in all a very casual and relaxed event with great company. This year, folks might want to share a master cell phone list so that all folks can find each other at Tice's. Or maybe its more fun to just search.

Cheers,
