Please, please , you're confusing me with these new dates for a different event in the BBB thread!

If there's a different event for SML-CPR (where is that?) then please start a different thread!

I'll just have to forgo the BBB 2015.  BUT I'd like to have you guys down here in later Oct for a SML-CPR if anybody can make it.

Something to really look forward to. Hopefully, I and others can make it to your beautiful lake. Please advise us of a preferred date.

Marty K.

P.S. Thanks, Salty 19, I think we are finally settled on September 25,26 and 27. Looking forward to a great turnout.

Tim is talking about something brewing down in Virginia at Smith Mountain Lake. He is listed as a Fleet Admiral, Commodore, so I leave it to someone else to hint about a new thread...

So far, I'm still potential (for both events).   Have to make checks with the mate, but sounds fun and 'have boat - will travel!'

Since Tim is the instigator of the Smith Mountain Lake CPR, I'll leave it to him to start a new thread to end any confusion about these two events. The BBB 2015 is a rather casual ( read: barely organized) get together of Compac sailors and those who wished they were at Tice's Shoals, Island Beach State Park, NJ in Barnegat Bay. Since Marty started this up for this year, I'm gonna let him take the ball but I'll do whatever I can to help coordinate this epic event.
So, If I read the above correctly, the real set in concrete dates are September 25-27. Am I correct? And Marty, are we planning a similar start like last year with dinner at the Captains Inn, a launch on Saturday morning and heading over to Tices? I could try to secure some slips if that's the case. I guess we have a bit of time yet so this thing is in it's infancy.

Yep, it seems that the concrete has finally set for September 25-27. Captain's Inn is fine, a bit up-scale, but not like we do this every day. Please look into some slips, Bob. Maybe we can get a group deal. Last year, I spent the first night on the hard and was not comfortable at all (humidity). Second night, in the water, was great. See ya soon!

This is kind of after the summer season here so it may be easier to procure boat slips. For the newbees who may be considering attending this epic event, last year 2 of us got slips within a short walking distance of the Captains Inn, where we enjoyed a grand dinner. We then retired to our respective boats for a restful evenings sleep to the soothing sounds of the 1000 decibel rock band about 500 feet away except for yours truly who couldn't sleep and returned to the bar for a few "Quila's" and some love music.  In late September, however, this may not happen as the summer crowds are gone.  Anyway, the next morning it was off to Tice's Shoals, Island Beach State Park where the actual site of the BBB takes place. We raft up, tell lies, eat, tell lies, got into a rowing race and, yes more lies and then some drink, if we choose to imbibe. This is a very low key affair with no real agenda although we could entertain the idea of a race.
Let's set a date for any attenders to commit so I can get an idea of slips. Ok, Marty- take it away!!!

Hi Bob,

I would like a slip for Friday night, Sept 25th.  Thanks for the warning about the loud music - I will bring earplugs for sleeping.

As for the Marina at the Captains Inn - Seems to be a flat $50 for the night? Is that where you stayed, near Tiki Bar?

But they are not listed as having a boat ramp.   To those with trailers, where did everyone launch from, and where do you park your car and trailers?  It seems that there are 2 ramps on either side of the Captains Inn.  One ramp is at Townsend Marina (upriver to the west) ramp cost is $5 each way, and the other at the Marina at Southwinds (downriver towards the mouth of Forked River, at the end of Lacey Road), ramp fees not listed on website.

Uh, take what away? Am I supposes to steal something? Arrr, I see. Ahoy! Attention all
ye salties and sea dawgs and their beauties - all CPY's and even some stealth craft are
hereby invited to come and share the good times at Island Beach State Park come
September 25-27.

Well, me hearties, let's see what crawled out of the bung hole o'er at ye old
Captain's Inn in Forked River Neu Joisey on Friday nite. Then come morn, we be off on
our yachts to an anchorage (Tice's Shoals 39.8398° N, 74.1087° W) across the Barnegat
Bay after a hearty breakfast. Ne'er fear the shoals, they be quite soft!

One word of warning: Don't follow meself at the helm of Pegasus 'less you enjoy
walking (see BBB-2014)!

Arrr! Let's hope for fair winds and kind weather. Yo-ho-ho and bottles of rum, beer
and wine (for the lasses?) are okay to bring. Don't forget ye grub and vittles. Bring
some pieces o' eight but leave ye dueling pistols and cutlasses at home, if ye will.
Any cannons less than 16" bore will be confiscated.

Now be the time to start sign'in up. If ye can only make one night, that's okay, too.
Floggings will be suspended for the weekend (not sure about keel-hauling!).

Mike and all:
I may be able to negotiate the skip fee (Ah...that's slip fee, as in boat slip!)   down since we'd be having dinner at the restaurant. Last year there was a bit of confusion about this and the BBB came together rather fast. I'll try to stop up this weekend and talk to the owner. If that doesn't work, I know the owner of Townsends so maybe we can procure slips there. It's a short walk between the two.
Arrgggg!!!!
Bob23

Tim Gardner

The Skip Fee had better be a very Large Fee.

Hey, Tim - Isn't SKIPPING a popular sport in New Joisey?
