We are in Mobridge SD now heading back to New Bern, with a few stops planned along the way in SD, KS and TN.  Hope to be on the river for the get together.

Very sorry not to be jumping in to help organize this - but I'm one of the "nos" for June 7 since I'll be in Chicago for the college graduation of my niece. Hope you guys have a great time.

Cool Charlie and Wes,

I just wish all the folks who voted for the 7th would chime in. I'm just going to let it rest.

Hey guys,

I voted for June 7th and should be able to make it. Who else is planning to come? Where to meet? New Bern or Oriental?

I plan on being there if I can swing it.

Now we are getting somewhere.

I would like  to go from New Bern area down to Oriental on Saturday, spend the night on the hook, and then come back on Sunday. Anyone with further details to suggest, have at it. If I get to the boat on Friday, I can pretty much be able to leave any time on Saturday.

So, we have 4 that indicate we will be meeting up. Sounds like one or two may be leaving from Blackbeards Sailing Club. Other than that, is anyone leaving from New Bern? If so, where will you be leaving your vehicle overnight? Lawson Park or Union Point? Not sure where to leave my vehicle. Is the plan to meet up in New Bern or sail to to Oriental and meet up there? Should we meet up and go to a restaurant in Oriental for lunch or Dinner? Short notice, but has anyone thought to invite Keith Scott? I have not thought about it till now.

Would it be better to postpost the meet up til the next most popular date July 12th for Wes and possibly Keith to make it also? Would this put out anyone planning to attend this upcoming weekend? Just some things to consider.

Thanks!

I invited Keith but although he was happy to be invited, he was unable to commit; he said he might see us out there.

I'm planning on being down at Blackbeard's  anyway; if yawl show up, I'll go along; if not, I'll daysail.

Personally, I don't see any point in postponing. When we took the vote, there was plenty of time. Hey, not trying to be contentious here. Maybe though, a trial run with who we have, and a part two in the fall, with longer lead time and someone who cares to ramrod the event? I am on the neuse so often, I don't mind adjusting schedule at all.

Sadly, family matters have come up that will prevent me from attending this weekend. Hope you all have a good time. Maybe next time.

Hey, we made it back to New Bern.  Windrunner is docked at the Grand Marina.  The wife usually drops me off at the dock.  How about leaving New Bern at 1000.  It is about 6 miles to Upper Broad Creek (Northwest Creek, Fairfield Harbor, Blackbeard's) Depending on the wind we could be there by 1200 meet and continue to Oriental.

It is around 23 Miles from New Bern to Oriental.   Last time that I sailed from Oriental to New Bern...Sailed 28 miles then motored the last 12 with a NW wind it took about 8 hours...it was great sailin just a foul wind!

Hope to see some others Saturday.

PS: Windrunner has a white hull with a brown cove stripe. (Wes's favorite colors!)

Charlie,

Your plan will work for me, too. I'll get my CP 23 ready to go, and head on out of Upper Broad Creek to be out there by noon. White hull, gold "eyes" around the ports.

I'll try to remember to turn on my handheld radio; will listen on 16 for Com-pac Rendezvous hail.

I sent you my cell phone number via PM just a minute ago.

Terry, if you are still in, let us know if this sched works for you!

BruceW

PS, there's still another vote for this weekend who hasn't chimed in lately; whoever you are, I hope to see ya out there.

Yes, I plan on trying to join you and will try to be outside broad creek around noon. I am still trying to decide where to leave my truck/trailer overnight as New Bern Parks and Recreation told me I was not allowed to leave it in the parking lot of Lawson Creek or Union Point overnight. I have a couple potential locations in mind though.

Bruce and Charlie, I will PM you my cell phone number as a backup contact.

Looking forward to seeing you on the water!

Terry,

Good to hear you are joining us. There used to be a launch ramp at Northwest Creek Marina (actually, it is a wildlife ramp) and you could park in the Marina lot. I'm going to do some calling tomorrow to see if I can come up with something else to suggest, including perhaps having you as a guest at BSC.

Bruce

PS, got your phone number and will call you if I figure something out that would help you.

So glad that there are other Compac sailors in the area. I retired in 2012 and  moved Morehead City, which is about 40 minutes east of New Bern.  I have never sailed but have always been interested in sailing and  I decided now is the time to learn and  purchased a 1990 Compac 16 with a Honda 5hp four stroke engine. At present I am waiting on a friend who is an experienced sailor to go out with me and at least learn the basics.  So until I have some experience I will not be joining you but will do so hopefully in the future.  Anyone else in the area have a compac 16?
