I arrived already.......... LOL

Weather looks to be good, showers maybe Wednesday. Nothing notable after that.

High water ramp is in use currently, and almost everyone is going to be located on B dock.
The water temp is around 73 degrees.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I know you guys probably won't believe this but up until 2 weeks ago I was planning a sneak attendance at the CLR 2013. I had the plans roughly in place but was determined to attend, albeit in temporary incognito. But then I was reminded that I had promised my niece to pick her and her 2 little daughers up at the airport on July 13th. Curses...foiled again. I then began to concoct a plan to ditch the airport gig onto someone else. Problem here: I made a promise and while not pretending to be  perfect or even near it, I don't want to break a promise even to attend such a prestigious event as CLR 2013. So, alas, I will not be there. Damn...it sure looks like it's gonna be the event of the year. Seems like something conspires every year to keep me from being there. Have a great time...I raise my glass of Newfy's Screetch to ya, mates!

Bob23,

It would have been awesome to have you at CLR 2013, but remember there will be a 2014!!

Was out today, perfect! the water is a little clearer due to it being up higher, and the water temp perfect for swimming once you get over the initial shock! (read in my "A little together time" post for the full story.... it was pretty funny today)

we should be around Wednesday evening Steve, See you then otherwise Thursday for sure!

If I come over early Friday AM, where would be a good spot to launch from?

MacGyver

Dam west.
It is right next to the Marina. We literally backbone each other.

Couple bucks to launch and leaving the tow vehicle there shouldn't be a problem at all.

When you drive into the area, there is a small podium to the left as you enter the parking lot.

It looks like Wrinkles will be heading down sometime early a.m. on Wednesday.  It is about a 7 hour tow, so we'll take our time and plan on being in Carlyle around 4pm.

We have spent the last few days warming up for the CLR activities.

Yup, ready to go.

re: Dam West - The google maps photo I just looked at did not show any docks at the ramp (I know that St Louis has not put in their docks at Creve Coeur lake yet) and wanted to check to see what the situation is there. I do not have a motor for the CP16 yet (thinking about buying an electric one this week if the wife lets me) so I might end up sailing on and off the dock.

MacGyver

There is a high water ramp, and on it is a black steel ramp that they move in and out with the water
You could sail on and off of that. I have seen the smaller boats do that before...... but it is kinda tight..... If the wind was in the right direction..... well. ..... If someone knew what they are doing, it probably works out.

I cant say for sure...... I have never been without motor....

Ahoy all.  I hope to make it up to Carlyle on Thursday.

Steve, I will give you a call when I get on the road.

Wroundey, I don't know if your plan is to procure your motor as required equipment for the trip or not.  I have a Minn Kota 36# thrust I used on my CP-16 for a few years.  I will bring it along with me as a backup motor.  You can make use of it if you can come up with a battery.

How'd ya fit all those pink and blue tables on Wrinkles? Quite a hefty mast step behind the drinks. Have a great time at CLR...and I was so looking forward to our race. Someday.

Rich,
I have a battery and would love to borrow/try out your minkota for the day. I most likely can only spring for getting over there on Friday. That would give a chance to try out the motor and then work on convincing my wife that I need to buy one of my own.

Thanks

we will probably all hit the water sometime after breakfast and sail for a while and raft up for some swimming then head back in for the dinner at the winery. sure hope you can make the dinner and meet some great people and a few pretty good sailors. my cell phone # is 317)-292-0258. call when me friday morning at i will be there to help you rig and launch. the ramps are pretty easy with a good dock in between. i have launched my 16 there many times and since its one of the few open beggars cant be choosers.
