Hi Ric,

This 16 (located in Charlottesville) seems about right.  1987 asking $2,400. Includes trailer and outboard.

Hey Wayne, I think I know the boat.If so it was one that i helped a friend get two or three years ago. That boat was dismasted twice! Once in a storm stuck on a boat lift when the wind got into the sail cover and sail which is why you never leave the canvas on when on a lift locked in. I told her to let the owner selling it know that, she didn't, and within a week a storm hit and brought the mast down., The other time she drove it rigged under the travel lift at our marina. I think it ought to be done with dismasting now!  Motor is a small Honda. If this is the boat I believe it to be, the current owner I think is hoping to get a bigger boat. It seems to be in good shape. Hasn't been in the water for over a year.

....then again it may be another 87' 16 in C'ville. If so, counting mine and the friend I mentioned there would be three 87' 16's here!

Update: I checked out the Facebook add and it appears to not be the boat I imagined it to be. So there ARE three 1987 Mk2 16's that I know of in the Charlottesville area. Go figure!

Well just saw this in a Craigslist ad in Annapolis. Overall campers and boats have seen quite the year for sales. At least in our marina, even in he winter, boats are going under contract quickly. Seems to be hitting home prices as well now. America, a great place to live if you can afford it!

Sitting here watching more winter weather happen. Also been a great year so far for snow sports. The resort where we spend much time for snow sports is selling out of lift tickets regularly, is 100% open, with over a 50+ inch base. Yup Southern skiing. There are few condos for sale there as they also are being gobbled up as soon as they hit the market. Overall, though this thread was about a perceived increase in Compac 16 prices, it appears much is changing price wise.

Is it just me seeing this in our area or is this perception/reality widespread?

Here you go , here's one for $10,000 .  Better jump on it before it's gone !

Right?

Question though:  At what size boat would you ditch the tiller?  25 ft?  30?
