Moved from Southwest Florida 20 years ago. Now, retired and planning to Sail the many lakes in Arizona. Figure a CP 19 XL, 1992> with a really good trailer would work best. Young bride would love one with the small galley option. I would just like to find some close to, or in Arizona.

Welcome to the group.  Have been wanting to sail in Havasu, thinking the next pocket cruisers meetup may be my opportunity.

My search for CP 19 somewhere close to Arizona has come up empty. Wrong time of year? Too far from " civilization"? I'll suspend my search this year and take this bag of cash and buy another Harley.

Welcome to the forum.  the Western US is Potter land. Very few compacs out here. I'm in CA and only occasionally see them come up for sale. If you are willing to take a road trip you can probably find more available in Colorado or TX for sure.

" we are not in Florida anymore" plenty of Harley's and Jeeps but a little light on Sailboats. Pity, as we have great inland lakes, especially the wind on Lake Mohave.. not giving up, just not driving 30 hours one way back East. Did that, not fun. Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome AMTRACS and Semper Fi.  Good luck with your search.  Wonder about your background.  Mine Co A, 4th Amphibious Tractors, 1966-1972, thankfully never deployed and I have Hurricane Camille to thank for that, about the only good that whirly girl did for me.

2nd. Amtracs Stateside, 5th. & 3rd. Vietnam. After we sent them back to the "world" I was with the group re assigned as an 0311 with First Marine Division. " Why walk, when you can ride" Amgrunts!

LOL, what did you do to get a ground pounding MOS, forget to declutch your fan angle drives going into the drink one too many times.:) Or were you riding those new fangled rooster tail tractors.

Anyway welcome and good luck with your boat search.

AMTRACS

Thanks, on top of being an Ordnance Marine (2142) yes, off to the Infantry we went. Hasn't been done again in combat, to date... Were you at 4th. Amtracs at Tampa or WPB before WPB became 4th. ANGLICO?

CO "A"was in Gulfport, MS, sharing space with the Seabees.  I was 2111 Infantry Weapons Repairman assigned to the AMTRAC unit.  In '72 they asked me to reup and I said I would not only reup but go active if they would send me to Quantico.  I had finished my degree, was working on a masters, and was already qualified.  But the timing was wrong, Vietnam was winding down, too many combat experienced O grade Marines, many of them coming back to civilian jobs and they wanted and deserved the reserve spots and they were eliminating active slots. They told me maybe WO but I declined.

Welcome to the group AMTRACS. A buddy of mine purchased a CP 19 a couple of years or so back, spit shined her, had new sails made, and put her on a new trailer with great intentions then unfortunately development life changing medical problems. The boat has been stored undercover at my warehouse for the last year and a half. He gave me a call last week to let me know that he's planning on selling her and offered me first dibs and I declined. To my knowledge he hasn't listed the boat yet. If I remember correctly his wife is from your neck of the woods and they travel in that direction a few times a year to visit family so I'm sure a delivery option may be possible. I'm not sure what year model she is but I do know she's in great condition and that the new sails have never been taken out of the bags. If you are interested I can find out more info or put the two of you in touch.

@brackish; now this is funny. After my active duty, I stayed on for 2 more years in my local (at the time) Cleveland Reserve unit 3Bn. 25th. Marines as the Weapons Company Battalion Armorer ( 2111). Most of my Brothers I served in Nam with, stayed in for 30, went on to WO school. I got out and had a great career at Caterpillar.

@Blown Away; major postponement of plans or that would be great. Without a lot of detail, this mad rush to get Sailing again was to treat my very sick ( S4 Cancer) spouse of 37 years to our great memories of SW Florida Sailing, only here in AZ. Things getting worse, way worse. A holding pattern for now...Thank you.

AMTRACS, hoping and praying for the best outcome for your wife.

The second half of my work career was with Delta International, making woodworking machinery, Delta and Biesemeyer branded stuff in Tupelo, MS and Mesa, AZ.  Worked with some CAT and IH tranplants from the Quad Cities area.  Good folks.
