Ok the mid winter fun is on track! Bob is getting SAMWG (6th ANNUAL MID WINTER GATHERING) proposed for mid January and the CBMWG was mid February last year so lets throw out the idea of 2/17 for CBMWG 3.0. Yes Lesa, you are basically driving 5 hours for lunch! (well really for the weekend!) That date is a holiday weekend and thus hopefully it will allow folks an extra day to travel and also catch some of the sights down here on the Chesapeake. As mentioned am gunna see if we can talk Pedro and Becky into hosting another party and bonfire after the gathering as they graciously did last year.

Pedro and Becky have the fortune to live oh so close by and though owners of a fine Tug, it seems sailing may also be a tug again. He has been instrumental in helping my return. (OBTW, think you can get Richard down for this?)

Now Bob, ya gunna have to get Linda on board with this one cuz can't get ya a date with Sister Merry Blond as she is moving to Florida!  :(
I'm afraid that MFF is now with new owners who we will encourage to join us. Who knows they are already pondering a 31 some day so.......

Antonio, Marion and Miracle, their Flicka now share the same dock with us, and although a PSC she fits nicely in with the Compacs we all love. Hopefully you all will meet and embrace them.

Kev and Lesa the danger of more sailboats than you can shake a stick at is still of concern. I'm afraid that we are not the folks to keep you away from them.

Tim, you missed the summer gathering so here's the chance to catch up for lost time! Hope you and Vicki will grace us with your presence again if we can pry you guys away from SML.

Wayne you and Phyllis will need to come to support Bob in his steadfast (and puzzling) defense of PBR, which of course there is a plaque to in the men's restroom. (don't those of you who weren't there wonder now!?)

Heave, you are planning to bring Jackie and come out of retirement we trust. It would not be a CBMWG without ya! (OBTW know about a great Catalina 30 for sale close by there, jus sayin )

and Dave....our girls truly were hatched oh so close together that we owe it to them to hook up finally. Mas would love to meet her.

So the sailing season winds down with a chili cook off and bonfire as the last marina event here for our little "yacht club", Mas will be coming home with us in time for Thanksgiving, and Interlude will be coming out of the water and then sit quietly in the boatyard till it all begins again in the spring. We will find our way back to our mountain and those winter sports we love so much, but the promise of mid winter gatherings will bring us back to the fine folks we have met compliments of this thing called sailing!

So....weigh in all, mark those calendars it's time to gather! It'll be winter before ya know it. Gotta start somewhere on this timing so lets propose:

I'm told I don't think all that much....but count me in. Should I bring wife or girlfriend? Please don't say both.

Royal Naval Toasts. See Saturday!

Sunday   "Absent Friends"
Monday   "Our Ships at Sea"
Tuesday   "Our Men"
Wednesday"Ourselves" (as no one else is likely to be concerned for us!)
Thursday   "A Bloody War or a Sickly Season" (and a quick promotion!)
Friday   "A Willing Foe and Sea-Room"
Saturday   "Wives and Sweethearts" (may they never meet)

Bob23

Wayne, of course you can! As the grand Poobah, I hereby authorize you...on the condition you share with me!!
CoV: Ok, I get this. Don't bring 'em both, is that what you're saying?

Hmmm...I still don't see the difference, well talking about the wife/girlfriend discussion anyway. Clear difference with PBR and beer, yup that's right i said PBR and beer. They are not the same!  :)

The weekend proposed is just that a proposal. The goal is best timing for all. Weigh in.

JERSEY SHORE TRAILER SAILERS

Mas

Golly winter certainly rushed in all of a sudden. 13 degrees up on the mountain Saturday morning. Gunna head to boats this coming week and plan to bring Mas home for the winter after one last sail. Slowly gunna pull things off Interlude and plan to winterize and strip her canvas week after Thanksgiving then it's officially winter for us regardless of what the calendar says. Hoping the weather cooperates for more days of taking Interlude out before then. So....that simply means we are closer to a mid winter gathering while ski season is just around the corner. Perfect!

#22
Well all this talk about mid winter gatherings has reminded me to put it out there again for the CBMWG 3.0 now scheduled for 2/17/18. We have already been in major winter white stuff mode and found ourselves trying to remember the sailing season. It seems like it was months ago but Interlude just came out of the water last week and Mas came home with us for Thanksgiving. Interlude is getting a new fuel tank for Christmas (thankfully PSC designs their boats with service in mind so an easy out with the old and in with the new). Mas' list is less costly with her only wishing for a jib downhaul. Gotta love it!

This Thursday will not only be our Christmas Jam night with several musicians from the Charlottesville music scene but also the first day of winter. We all know what the middle of it brings......so mark those calendars, practice the sailing yarns, know that you will probably have too much fun, and prepare for CBMWG 3.0 (scroll back up through for the particulars.)

We also know that some of you will be in training for this event as you will gathering with Blob, Kevin, et al at the mid winter fun up in NJ. So there will be little excuse to not continue the fun the next month! We will be at a music event during that weekend in January but will lift a glass to all and look forward to seeing everyone again. Am going to reach out and try to get Heave out of retirement for this. Pedro now is officially a self described "tranvesselite" now that he has another sailboat so it will prove to be interesting to see how the transformation will look!  Bob will need to be given a little grief over his multiple aborted attempts to own a CP16, heck even Kevin has been muttering about such! Can't wait to see pics of Tim's traveler project on his CP19, as the only thing that i never fully liked was the end boom sheeting on the Compacs. (bet you guys are really liking SML now that all of the touristas are gone!). Wayne, you and Phyllis will need to pull yourselves away from your new grandchild for a day and come join again. Antonio and Marion we are sure will be in attendance (they are the new owners this past fall of 'Miracle', the PSC Flicka that was the subject of much discussion at last years CBMWG and still have a Montgomery 15 so they fit well with this group of Compacteers!)

So........it'll be here before ya know it, meanwhile let us all be grateful for this thing called sailing and the many friends we have met and will continue to meet! In the interim, stay warm, dream of fair winds and distant shores, and take care of one another, and hope you have not been naughty (well maybe e a little!) but instead nice! Santa will understand.  :)

I'm looking forward to CBMWG 3.0! Nothing like hanging around old friends and telling sailing lies while imbibing on some tasty brews. Montgomery 15 you say....Hmm...now yer gettin' my attention!!

Bob, am pretty sure they are planning to keep the M15, sort of like why we have a 16, something easy to rig, trailer and yet seaworthy. Guess you can try to talk them out of it! They don't drink PBR so can't offer a years supply of it! Wish we weren't already booked that weekend of the gathering up here in January but looking forward to telling sailing yarns and seeing everyone in February. Meanwhile have been on the snow already and hope winter leaves us with more. None of the sailors at our little marina can fathom this as they either point their boats south or simply hope it isn't too cold. You are one of the few that actually likes the snow!

I do love the snow!! People roll their eyes like I'm nutso because I do. I guess I'm just not ready to grow up quite yet!! We've had 3 here already although the 2nd was really only a dusting! Can't wait to cross country on the beach!!

Well it is now officially winter as the solstice occurred just a half hour ago. What does all that mean? Hopefully some snow in the forecast for those of us who refuse to grow up (I agree Bob) and if it's now winter the middle of it brings..........ready.........CBMWG 3.0! The question that is now floating around is 'will Kevin or Bob find a 16 that one of them actually buys!' Guess we will have to wait to see, it surely will be a topic of discussion over some beers.

Looks like Finbar has entered the race!

Finbar Beagle

Indeed, but need to run faster than my wife...I do have the seed of a thought that if Shrewsbury CP 16 is worthy, it may become a Barnegat Bay Squadron trailer boat.  None of us needs another boat, but would like one for a few sails a year, and of course to load with PBR for assorted Compac gatherings....something maybe along the lines of shared initial and annual trailer/boat overhaul and maintainance (read as drinking while tinkering)

Lot to think about, will take pictures on Sat.  Someday I will learn how to make the files small enough to post...

Hey Brian, usually the photos can be resized when you export them. Maybe Google the method for your computer/device?

Meanwhile......you gotta consider joining us for CBMWG. There has always been a contingent from New Jersey! Plus we can see the pictures first hand of the CP16. My wife is very supportive of the need to get a 16 as one taught us sailing a buzzillion years ago. She can help your wife with the acceptance of such.  :)
