BARRIER COATING MY 23, WANT WATERLINE BELOW COATING, NEVER HAD IT IN THE WATER. HOW FAR BELOW THE BOOT STRIP IS THE WATERLINE FOR A 23?

Bob23

Welcome new 23 guy! Of course the boot stripe could be in slightly different locations in relation to the actual waterline but to answer your question, mine is about an inch below the bottom of my 2" wide red boot stripe.
  Where do you sail?

Best way to find out where the "theoretical" water line is would be to ask at Hutchins.  I think they put the boot stripes on based on that.   My boat was barrier and antifouling coated before it ever went in the water and then the PO slapped a 104 lb. motor cantilevered out there on the mount and the "actual" water line had no relationship to the theoretical.  I've since removed it and put a 59 lb. motor back there and the water no longer comes up over the barrier and antifouling at the stern.

Best way to find the actual is to put it in the water with the motor you plan to use and measure it at various points.

I wish my boot stripe was higher.  I would like to raise my water line a big because I get scum above my waterline.

Mas

Heading down to No Mas within the week. She is a diesel, and well equipped. Her waterline as a result should be about as high as you might expect. The existing line seems to be working well. will try to remember to take a pic and measure for ya.
