Had a couple of nice sails this past weekend

First, I went out on a friend's ketch. It's about a 30 footer. Good wind around 4 pm Friday.

Saturday morning, I took my CP 23 out in Upper Broad Creek. Lots of wind (I didn't measure it) that would have been on the nose to get to the Neuse, so I just practiced my maneuvers: jibes, tacks, heaving too on each tack. Had the bimini up, and thought I did pretty well.

I really need to put my tiller crutch on this tiller. I had it on my previous tiller, but when that one needed to be repaired, I did my normal thing and made a tiller from a wheelbarrow handle. It is a bit longer than the regular one. I thought I'd put the other one back on, so I didn't move the tiller clutch. However, I believe I am going to keep the wb handle installed, so I do need something.  I had been just wrapping a bungee around, which does fine, but the bungee broke. Too much time out in the sun holding the tiller over to the side (which is what John Day told me about for keeping the rudder higher out of the water).

So, Sunday, I fiddled around with coffee and breakfast, and waiting for the coffee to kick in, and when I finally was ready, it was HOT! I have not become acclimated to summer temps yet. I think next trip, I will sail first, and have the coffee later. haha; we'll see if I remember to do that. Maybe I'll just be more able to deal with it.

Bruce, I'm glad to hear you are getting out on the Neuse. I have been out on the Pamlico only twice this year so far. Life events are currently limiting my sailing time, but I still want to tag along on your 23 sometime.

Mark, I understand about life events; weather events, also!

Any time you want to join me, just contact me and if I am going then, you can either meet me or ride down.

If you have time, you can tow your CP over to Blackbeard and sail from there as my guest.
