Hello, I bought a possibly 89 com-pac 16 on sunday, and it is missing the fore sail.  I have no idea what I should purchase?  A 135% genoa? Or a 150?  Or a jib?  Too many options for someone with no idea what they are doing :) any ideas?

Sailaway,
Congrats on your 16. At the upper starboard corner of the transom, you should find the Hull id number (HIN). It will start AVB. This number will tell you the year/ month the hull was made. You can search this site to learn how to interpret the HIN.

If you plan to start with one hank-on head sail, I think you should consider the wind conditions in your sailing area. If you plan to sail in 6 to 15 knot winds, a 110% or 120% jib of 5 ounce material would work.
If you have a known sail maker in your area, ask him/her for a recommendation based on the winds you plan to encounter.

Hope you enjoy your ComPac.

Awesome!  Thank you for the advice.  I'm in Kansas so there is no shortage of wind.  6 - 15 was pretty average last summer.  Spring and fall can get a little higher on average, but I probably won't venture out those days, not until Im more comfortable.
