Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a Compac 19, preferrably a model with a bowsprit.  I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and would be up for a few hours drive to pick up a good boat.

Thanks.

Burton Blais (can be reached through my CPYOA moniker of "Jackrabbit".

Jack:
Check out "Together Time" for sale in this classified section. Just scroll down a bit. I've seen this boat and it is as good and clean as they come. Owned by a marine mechanic who is meticulous.

Note: I have no vested interest in this sale. Jason is just a good friend.

I've sailed Jason's boat, and it's restored perfectly.  Hate to see he's parting with her.

Wow!  She is gorgeous!   Outside my budget range, I'm afraid (especially with the weak Canadian dollar these days, which would put it at about $13 000 CDN or more).

But this is what I would aspire to do with a boat in more "typical" condition for the age.

i wonder if jack sold his 19 down in southern illinois?

Jack:
You may want to contact Jason via personal message to see how much, if any wiggle room he has. Personally, I'd miss him on the water at the Carlyle Lake Rendezvous but I know he has made up his mind to sell.

i have also sailed jasons boat and can attest to its condition. the attention to detail is wonderful and more importantly it is one solid boat with no hidden issues (which might be present in others). i think he has some room to dicker. that boat is much more than a pretty face. if i hadnt just purchased my catalina i would have made him an offer. and yes bob, we will indeed miss "together time" in july.  bob, did you check out the 16 for sale in central illinois?

Kick:
I did but I'm really looking for a nice boat for a junker price. I mean I really want to steal it! Of course, I could just keep my Precision 15K and tow that to CLR but I really don't like the boat.

kickingbug1

bring the precision. after all it is "sail". and a sailboat race. plus i would like to sail it too   hahaha

Thanks All!

And JackRabbit, let me know where you would be at on price, I can probably work with it. My wife and I were on the fence with selling her but had decided to put it up for sale. The company we work for now has come up with a new schedule for us and things are not good, like my wife and I wont have any time off together that has either of us second guessing selling the boat.

We do have room on the price, I just felt that was a good starter listing, considering what is in the boat currently, and what folks are asking for boats with nothing done at all.

I am a fair person as most can tell you, and will not take offense to offers like others might. I know the boat has to sell, and as long as my wife and I are good with a offer, then we will part with her.

If I still worked at the marina, or had a different job affording more time, I would keep her. But I cannot stand to see a boat sit, which is why we know we must sell her. I have watched too many boats rot in that marina I worked at, Together Time cannot be one of them.

Let me know,

sell her or no, you and ginger better be at the clr or at least part of it.

Bought one!  A 2001 Compac 19 with a centerboard.  Deposit sent and will be picking her up in April (once we are clear of stormy winter weather).

kickingbug1

that is one rare 19----centerboard

Aye!  I understand only four boats were made to this specification.  I did a double take when I looked at a pic in the ad showing the bridge deck and noticed what looked like a rather inconspicuous pennant coming out of the bulkhead.  I immediately got in touch with the broker and asked him to confirm if this is indeed a CB model, and when he responded affirmatively I made an offer (of course, there were other positive attributes, such as the production year, great condition of the hull, crisp sails and a roller furler).  Once my offer was accepted I immediately sent a downpayment, and arranged to pick her up on April 9.  The broker will re-pack the trailer bearings for me and provide a spare tire.  Another factor is that she's located in upstate New York, a mere 3 hours drive from me (I live very close to the border, near the Thousand Islands area of the St. Lawrence River).

Needless to say, my wife and I are quite excited!
