New owner here looking for inexpensive depth finder.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also how and where to mount transducer.  Lakes near me in Macon,Ga. Have shallow banks and rocks so I thought it would be a good idea to have onboard.
Thanks folks!
If not now..When?

i bought a little humingbird lcr for my catalina and it works super. i mounted the transducer just behind the keel (inside) just using silicone sealant and it works perfect. i think it cost 85 bucks.

How are you planning to power this?  My CP-16 doesn't have an installed battery (right now), and without 12 volts of electrons moving back and forth, I'm not sure if adding this creates another requirement.

Some echo sounders use just a 9v PP3 sized battery which gives circa 20 hrs operation without the back light, a bit less with it on.
The Admiral had one on her Potter and we will be fitting one to our CP-16 over this winter.

Can you provide a photo of exactly where you mounted the transducer? Or a description using the compression post as a landmark? Presently, I've installed a Hawkeye in the cockpit bulkhead with the wires looking for someplace to go!

Thanks,
