12V Watertight Connector: male connection needed

Bought a new electric trolling motor. Came with 2 spade connectors - but my battery is in the bow.

On my stern, I have a 12V female - see picture. I'd love to take advantage of the proximity. (I don't own the male portion. Hold your comments!)

I plan to hit up an electrical supply store tomorrow - but has anyone connected anything 12V similar to the connection pictured? I'm guessing I would snip off the spade connectors.

Thanks! Chuck

I had a similar connector for my mast lights on prior boat, but 3 prong I think.  I had to buy the whole thing to get the missing male plug.  Perko makes them and they are sold at West Marine and on Amazon.   If you can't find a replacment, MinnKota and the other trolling motor manufacturers make plugs and sockets, I think I bought a set for maybe $15 at Gander Mountain.  I actually used that as a disconnect point for a small outboard that had an electric start.

PS - if you do use that connector, check to make sure its rated for the proper amount of current your motor will draw, and also check the wire size feeding the connector  It's probably rated for 15 amps.  Your trolling motor manual should tell you what the current rating should be.
Here's one rated for 30 amps I believe.

If you're in a hurry, Walmart stocks the Attwood connectors.

Note: These are designed for trolling motors.  Visit the Attwood site for specs.

Do not use that plug.  It is only rated at 15amps.  Way too small.  The wire connections on the back are also way too small to carry the amperage required to run even a small trolling motor.  This is a serious fire hazard.  If you want a 12v deck connector for a trolling motor, look at. SIERRA #WH10520 and corresponding female plug # WH10530.  These are set up with 8 gauge pigtails.  Exactly what you need.  If there is a West Marine near you their part numbers are 137903 and 137895. Good luck.
