Congratulations.

Being in lower management, Sergeant, is a pain in the butt.  You catch it as it comes down and catch it as it goes up.  Basically a middle man where all the stuff lands.  Been a Sgt. for a Police Department for a while now and it is an interesting experience.

yesterday was my 1st day as a sgt, however i've been temporarily assigned as sgt some 40 times, so i knew what i was doing.  (it also made the exam and interview easy)

most of the inmates congratulated me, the ones i've had trouble with didn't like the idea of me having more authority.  too bad.

with the new position came new days off.  sat-sun.  my old days off were thur-fri, which gives me thur-sun off for the 4th weekend.  ouch!

i'll have to arrange some swaps to have time off in the week for CLR.  i wouldn't think it would be too difficult to find a sgt with weekdays off to swap a weekend.

At least you have a consistent schedule.  I am all over the map.  I work a 12 hour shift and my rotation is 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, and three off...repeat.  My hours are usually 10:00am-9:30pm but that varies the most.  Sometimes I work 6-6 and then swap the am and pm on that 6-6 from time to time.  Yep, it can be crazy.  The 6pm to 6am doesn't happen much but when it does it causes me to fight traffic on I95 for 1.5 hours each way (or more if traffic is bad).  My worst commute on that shift was 2 hours and 40 minutes.  In normal time I only am 35 minutes from work.

My biggest benefit is leave.  I build up a lot of leave here.  I usually get over a month off a year.  Pay sucks though.

Congrats CC.  I think that calls for double serving of Ginger's Knock Em Out Punch.
