I am trying to work out my schedule for next year and I was wondering if anyone has a general idea when the next CLR will be for 2015.  I missed 2014 because of a week long bike ride at the same time.  I thought about doing a two week great lakes tour on my bike which starts August ninth, 2015.  I hope the CLR is the first weekend in August so I can attend as a first time participant with my Suncat "Skyrocket".  Any help on the proposed date?  I sure hate to miss that event again.

it will be on the last week of july (monday thru friday---or until everyone is gone). i figure that sunday will be a travel day for everyone. also during the week we will have the lake and marina all to ourselves. other than the dates all of the other information posted before applies.

Thank you very much kickingbug1.  I sure hope to be there.  I read a lot about the event on this site.

Don't believe all those tall tales and exaggerations you are reading about CLR 2014.  Well......the things about Crazy Carl are all true.  Oh, anything about Bob is definitely true.  Might as well admit that everything about Kickingbug is pretty accurate. Other than that it was all made up.  Except when...........

Carl's secret weapon.

Hope to be there again next year.

dan, sure hope you can make it. like mike said----most everything good that was said about the clr is indeed true. i take full responsibility for the bad things ----and carl, our resident stand up comedian, takes responsibility for the "funny"

Was there anything not good about the CLR? If so, I didn't notice. Except the water at Carlyle Lake took some getting used to- no salt! Weird. Maybe I'll bring some official Atlantic salt water with me so I feel at home.
Was just working on the trailer today in anticipation of haulout next Saturday but I'm very seriously considering towing the 23 out to Carlyle. The trailer may need new tires and a spare or two but it would be well worth the drive to be there with my own boat. Plus, I could avoid that dangerous, semi-drunk bike ride back to the campsite.
Mike and Brenda- If you are there (and you better be) I hope to return the favor buy inviting you on my boat. I'd be honored although I cannot be responsible for any negatives to your reputation! :)

more and more im thinking "night sail" next year------can 25 or so people fit on a cp 23----plus beverages?

Night sail would be great (have not done that for along time). Just checked the lunar calendar and the last week of July 2015 is a full moon at the end of the week so there should be good natural light that week.

NO!    PLEASE!    ANYTHING BUT THAT!   THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOOD NATURAL LIGHT.  What kind of cruel and unusual newbie hazing is this?  From bob23's posts I expected to be forced to drink at least one pbr, but now I should expect natural light?  It's like collage all over again.  I may have to rethink this clr thing.

Seriously though guys, I can't wait.  I am really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Bob23

Not to worry, Chris.
He's talking about the real natural light. While PBR is the standard brew on my boat, I'm really a Guiness guy at heart. But I'm known to imbibe in a Three Philosophers from time to time. And anything from Victory, Shipyard and- a NJ favorite- Riverhorse. If you ever see me drinking anything "light"- it's either an imposter or I've lost what remaining marbles I have.
In regards to newbie hazing, I cannot comment. You'll just have to experience CLR for yourself.

(ps: Are you bringing your 23? Ah...this is starting to sound like a nice race!)

cw021382

Hi bob,
Thanks for putting my mind at ease.  Yes, I am bringing my 23 to clr.  I would love to have her converted to the HC rig by then.  It would be a great time to see how it compares to the stock Bermuda rig.

Chris,  you will be required to dress in the official newbie outfit. NO getting around it...

Hmm, I don't know, if Bob hauls all the way from Jersey, I may be embarrassed if I don't come.:)  Looks like maybe 360 miles.

MacGyver

I thought it wasn't PBR for initiation, I thought it was that Tie me to the Mast drink my wife made.......... Looks like I will have to maybe plan to make even more of that for this year, I should have let her buy that bigger distribution tank......
Maybe next visit to Sams I will see if we can acquire larger quantities of the premium booze we used and start buying that juice too. And if anyone was worried, we are organic eaters, so the contents are clean, and thus go down the hatch VERY EASILY. It is also aged like 24 hours, so we are on lock down here so the cops don't raid us while it is in production. Serious Business.

AHHHHHHHHH, the memories...... re-branding engines, Story telling, costumes, booze, water gun fights, swimming, booze, fine dining, and did I mention sometimes booze, and we drink some? It really is a good time, As a matter of fact, I am at the marina all year long waiting for it to occur!

Oh, just a note, I might not have my slip this next year, some things have started to occur that might change things for me, but I will rent a slip (If it all happens peacefully) and that would just put me closer to the group!
