we have decided on the dates for next years CLR. it will be held at carlyle lake, Illinois from july 27th to the 31st (monday through friday). the meet and greet dinner at the winery will be on tuesday night at 7pm.  the "Big Race" will be held on wednsday followed by the big costume (jimmy buffet) awards dinner (you should see the trophies) at the marina weds. all of the information was posted by salty 19 last year and is easily accessed. any changes in event schedule will be posted but the dates will remain unchanged. since sarah and i committed the ultimate sin of selling out cp16 and buying a catalina 18, the CLR is pretty much open to all trailer sailors (if you can drag it here you are welcome). this didnt have an adverse effect on this years event. we had more people and boats and even (and i cant believe it) more fun-----wind however, was pretty scarce. i know that this is ADVANCED NOTICE but it gives everyone more time to schedule and to send me suggestions. so far the only changes that i forsee will be in regards to the race rules. please consider attending----the more the merrier!

Fabulous! I just marked my calendar and am packing as we speak. Can't wait...maybe I can bring some wind from NJ as we always have an abundance to share. I'm glad you are planning so far in advance. And to quote a line from one of my favorite movies "Back to the Future":
Be there or be square!

i cant imagine towing your 23 all that way but then you are the world famous "BOB". sarah and i will do all we can to make your trip worth it.

If it's half as much fun as 2014, it'll be worth the tow. Besides- how long could it take? With getting lost and detouring to see Salty, the trip out was 20 hours. No problemo. The Tundra only has 240,000 miles on it...just a baby.

I have added the dates to my calendar. Hopefully I can make it over in 2015

Elk River

Be careful, folks, of the type of wind that comes from the Garden State.  Lot of hot air over that way...

I, too, will add that event to my calendar.

That will be cool to have you and Lily there. Well, Lily anyway. :)   Hot air is better than no air!

thanks for putting this together.  Dates are on the calendar. We plan to arrive days earlier and leave Wed to take advantage of the weekend and limit the number of days off we take from work. Time off work is extremely precious to us working stiffs!

im thinking of changing the meet and greet at the winery to monday night at 7 with the big race on tuesday. that way those who cant stay for the whole week can make both dinners and the race.  im also thinking about a "hare and hounds" race for maybe wed or thursday.

Pardon my apparent ignorance, but what's a hare and hound race? Is this nautical bumper cars? Hide and seek?

i might be wrong but i think its a race where the slower boats start first and the faster ones try and catch them. just a guess-----ill look into it. it would also be nice to have a night sail if the weather permits
