Interesting trip:
From New Bern, to Oriental, Lower Broad Creek (Paradise Cove Marina), Hancock Creek (Cherry Point) and back to New Bern.

Ran into Terry (tpgil4, C-19 Exodus) in Oriental and we agreed to meet again at Lower Broad Creek.  Had a great time catching up, a few cold beers, and a warm shower.  Paradise Cove is the best kept secret on the Neuse.  Terry headed off to South River to pull his boat the next day.  I went on to Hancock Creek to anchor out there. 

Interesting Stuff:

Next day stopped by Blackbeard's Yacht Club on Upper Broad Creek to check out an '86 C-27 that a blogger just bought.  It has 5, yes 5 portholes on each side.  A PO had installed a port between each of the original ports.  Always nice to look at other C-27's.  The new owner and I sailed Windrunner back to New Bern.  He had been offered a 28 Freedom Cat Ketch, for $16000.  That is one that got away!

While at Blackbeard's I saw my first C-25, inboard engine, tiller, and a different looking foredeck.  I would not have recognized it if it had not been for the sail cover.

Hang Ups:

I use one set of jib sheets for the 110 and 150 hank on jibs.  Unless I pay close attention tacking the sheets get hung up particularly with the 110.  Aside from the usual ComPac stuck under the chain plate turnbuckles, the winches/cleats/hanks of halyards on the sides of the mast, we had a first for me.  On a jibe the jib whipped the windward sheet around the bow of the boat.  When we sheeted in the leeward sheet it really jammed the other one UNDER the bow of the boat!  I might go back to using two sets of sheets.

Great trip, always learn something new, seeing old friends making new ones.

Hi:
Did the same port modification to Allure about five years ago. Makes it much more manageable heat wise in the summer. Worse part was putting a sawzall to the cabin walls (I hate putting holes in boats). Caution to anyone taking ports out of these boats, mark everything so you don't mix parts up from one port assembly to another (I found out the hard way).

I'm the guy that is buying the 27....  maybe.... it's going to survey tomorrow.

I really want to thank Charlie. He was very kind to give me a ride on his boat and look over the 27 in question. It has no name but it is #12. Old boat. One of the PO's installed the extra ports, an additional 2 winches, bollards instead of cleats on bow, stern and midship. It's dirty but hasn't been used in at least a year. If I purchase, my 23 will be for sale. Along with a Montgomery 17

If and when I buy, I'll post pics.

Hey Ches:
It isn't to tough to get me to sail!  I had a great time too.  Wish you luck with your boats especially the C-27 
You have ALMOST as many boats as Tim Gardner and he has as many as the Navy.

Thanks for the nod Charlie.  Buddy the SEA Dog says howdy.  BTW,  The 27 seat cushions fit in my 19 almost perfectly.  They are 4" shorter than the cockpit benches and 1" wider.  No mods necessary, the admiral loves them, Thanks again.

Back to the thread, each of my jibs and the asym have their own set of sheets, but how did you lose the sheet so that it wrapped around the forestay?

Hey Tim:   

Glad that the cushions worked out well, better yet that they work for the admiral.

While jibbing, we cut the jib loose early and it blew forward of the forestay, whipping the now windward sheet around the bowsprit and under the boat when we trimmed the leeward sheet.  Both sheets are run past the winches and threaded though a cleat with a stopper knot.  So they cannot and in this case did not come loose.  We had to until the stopper knot and pull the windward sheet from under the boat in order to free the sail.

Durndest hang up I have ever had.
