That does look cool...yes- pun intended!
Too bad it's on the other side of the country or I'd love to attempt to row the first leg. As far as the second, I'm not sure I like the part about being eaten by grizzlys, run down by a freighter or drowning.
Hmm..wonder how a CP would do? Slap! what am I thinking?

The CP16 could be a great boat for this!  Just add a set of oar locks and a sculling oar to swap with the rudder assembly for when there isn't any wind, sail when there is wind.  A two man team could sail around the clock weather permitting.  That would be your only chance of beating the kayaks speeds...  Why do you guys plant crazy ideas in my head?  I'm already planning my mods! Lol

Here's a link on sculling, I'm thinking a single oar setup:

I'd do the first leg in my Guideboat. Maybe with a sail rig. Or...
looking for crew, Smier? I'm looking to add something to my bucket list.

I'm not about to take the time to look into the prevailing winds there this time of year, but if they were favorable, I think two or three guys in drysuits on a Hobie 21 would be unbeatable.  Or a bunch of guys on an America's Cup 72 foiling the whole way! Paging Larry Ellison!

Not to worry Bob. After the whirlpools and the orcas you wouldn't need to concern yourself with grizzly's or freighters.

I'm still trying to figure out how you get an unpowered boat thru a 15kn swirling current at Seymour Narrows...

Yes, it will be interesting to follow for sure!  I'm surprised by the number of large catamarans.  I thought they had to launch from the beach without assistance like some of the other race/adventures?

Edit:  I was thinking of some of the rules for the Everglades challenge etc...
