New SunCat Owner in Central New York

Hello fellow SunCat owners!   I have been reading your very helpful and informative  postings for nearly two years .  I got my new SunCat (cabin model ) last year from the dealer in Skaneateles NY (TheSailBoatShop - very helpful).  Your postings helped me decide to buy it.  I live near Rochester,  NY and sail on Canandaigua Lake (45 minutes away ).  For about 35 years I  have been sailing small boats in these parts  with some week long trips in previous boats  to nearby waters in New York and Canada.  Spent many vacations in Cape Cod,  so I could not resist  SunCat

I downsized from a fixed fin-keel Freedom 21 because, as we all retired,  my sailing friends (i.e.  crew)  started to vanish. (4 grand kids under five still too young to sail)  The Freedom was great but had 17 lines led aft (!) – hence was named " FireDrill"  (also my pen-name for here).    It,  too, was cat rigged- but a marconi sail and was mostly  waterfront  dry-sailed via a hoist.  I had single handed it, but it was challenging.   Trailer sailing was  a totally different kind of experience than trailer sailing a SunCat.    So I am now enjoying much more relaxed single handing (and learning about trailer/ramp launching and gaff rigged sails)- with my new  SunCat  which, in contradistinction,  I named "Cat Ease" !   Since single handing, I will sail mostly in central NY.

In addition to making mods suggested on this site,   I  have done a few of my own which I hope to share once I figure out how to use the photo aspect of this site and verify usefulness of mods.  As a start  I am registered on the CPYOA Photo-Bucket site (under sub-album CatEase) and have posted two photos there one of  which I hope to make my avatar(that's a picture with profile?).  Does 130 x 130 pixel limit still hold for avatar or other pictures.  Can an avatar come from a sub album?  I have tried cutting and pasting URL from below one of the pictures in album display into the " I have my own pic box". Profile shows a tiny black square with a white  X in it.     Where can I read up on how to include photos?   I have seen some older threads on this. (Joie De Vivre Oct 12, 2012 Downloading my picture...thread was very helpful. Followed Tim's and Skip's instructions  but I think I may still need some help.)

I am deeply indebted to all of the skilled SunCat owners and other ComPac  owners  (and those who are  authors of the Catboat Guide & Sailing Manual)  who have made my downsizing so easy, enjoyable and fulfilling last year  but I still am learning and have a few questions.  I love the site and the boat ...You all are amazing!   Thank you !!!  I hope to participate more fully now that I have "my rudder in the water" .
