ok just a couple of reminders-----cameras and smart phones. take a lot of pics with either and send them to salty 19 for dvd production (the past dvds are a hoot and great to watch when the snow flies). and who wouldnt want some good pics of their boat under sail? anyway i posted my phone numbers earlier so if you have any problems or questions , please call. my wife has planned a little scavenger hunt (or bingo whatever) which involves taking pictures of various things you might see on the lake. guys i think this is a woman thing. dock parties require two things -----you and a folding chair.  oh yeah, and a boat load of lies.cant wait to see past attendees and meet new friends. everyone have a safe trip and pray for good weather.

Well, once again you guys take an almost sadistic pleasure in teasing me about the CLR. But, even though I'm east coast land locked, I will at least pray for good weather for you. In the past, Salty has been kind enough to send me the DVD and it really has been great to watch in January which would lead me to promising myself I'd attend next year. Another promise broken.
This has been an especially hard year in some ways- my poor 23 which is usually in the water in May, still sits patiently on her trailer waiting for me to get my act together. Looks like mid August now.
Once again, I hoist a grog in your honor for keeping this epic event going so long.

We'll hoist one in your honor as well Bob.  Someday you'll realize that the CLR is worthy of being on your bucket list and make the trek to Illinois.

Here are a couple of pics from CLR 2010.

See you all soon.

I am terribly sorry to say, but I've got a medical issue at the moment that is stomping on my CLR plans. I've got a nasty infected abscess right on my tailbone. Wouldn't wish this pain and issue on anyone!   Suffice to say it's horribly painful-better now after surgery, but there would be no way I can carry out a trip right now with flwp appts and caring for the wound which will take a couple of weeks.  Right now I can't even sit let alone get anything together for the trip.  I've cancelled all my work appts earlier in the week as well.

While the pain is great, I'm more saddened by missing the chance to see everyone again. ALL of you guys are very special to us, and with the event is such a good time it's difficult to say we can't make it.  Hope ya'll have a great time and the weather is good!

I will officially pass the Race Committee Chair position to MacGuyver.

Still will make the DVD no problem...take a lot of pictures so I can go through them and choose the best ones.

We can't begin to tell you how disappointing this news is Mike.  We really enjoy any time spent with Becky and yourself.  We wish you a speedy and comfortable recovery.

I guess we'll just have to come visit you guys in Ohio again.

Your good friends,

That's a shame, Mike. I know from reading and lurking here that the CLR is special to you. Sorry to hear about your pain. Dr. Bob23 prescibes regular and frequent Pussers Painkillers. Forget those meds the doc gave you...my painkillers will do the trick.
To your speedy recovery,

mike, i have to say that this years event wont be the same without you , becky and island time. what a bummer. only two good things come out of this----one, i have a chance to place better in the big race. and my boat all of the sudden looks "prettier". seriously we always look forward to seeing the two of you and sharing some laughs, as well as lime bites. hope you are better soon. wish i lived close by so i could cut your grass and help around the house. take care buddy. i sure did want to see that custom trailer in the flesh.

I am saddened as well by this news. I wonder if you could come down maybe for the weekend boatless and hang out? I have plenty of seats in the 19 for riders and if you were here for the race, I suppose that would make my boat the committee boat? Hotel is right up the road ;)

Either way, GET BETTER! Hate to see a guy (or gal) down, that sucks being hurt. I just got on the up and up from lightning damage plaguing me yet again. It wouldnt have stopped me from attending but would have kept me fragile during the time.

What a task, me, race committee chair person, I feel the weight, so heavy upon my shoulders. I will do my best to screw it up! (I learned how to start from weeks of training with Kickinbug, so I should do well!)

If there is a prettiest boat competition, I will do my best to win it to keep it out of Kickinbugs hands. His boat is pretty nice though!!

We cant wait for CLR, so close. The mainsail is almost done, and the beer is in the fridge!

Make sure you have gotten a slip at the marina if you havent already, and also be sure to to setup your hotel plans. I will be working till 3 Thursday but after that I should be available to help.

I talked to Sarah on FB, Yes, without a doubt. My wife is off, so just let me know and I can have her pick it up at marina if youd like. I will be working all day so shouldn't be too hard to find me. I am going to check my Vacation Time allotment and see, I might be able to take some of Thursday off as well.... depends on how my week of work goes.

Well it looks like there has been a change in plans and I'll be getting there on Thursday afternoon instead of Friday. Hope there is plenty of wet water and cold beer, and how about some sweet corn, it's just ready to eat here?

JollyGreen, Aka Jack, did you used to own a Hunter 260 with the same JollyGreen name and the giant on the side?

I ask because I work at West Access Marina, I might know you and possibly worked on that 260 before.... otherwise it is all coincidence.

Roger, LOL, That is awesome you will be there Thursday EVE, make sure to get a slip if you are interested. Thursday is kind of a meet and greet day, we help each other get setup, etc. I work at the marina till 3pm, then am off for vacation, so I wont be able to visit a whole lot until after 3pm.

Corn?? My neighbor just brought me 4 ears, Must be the right time to be getting it!!

For newcomers, Be sure to contact Steve AKA Kickinbug. His number was listed in a post somewhere....... hmmmmm,

Feel free to correct me!!!   I am flying by the seat of my pants here......
Anyway, Thursday is a assemble and jack around day, play it by ear so to speak
Friday is a sail day, and eat at Bretz???
Saturday is the big "Race" ending with a awards ceremony dinner at the marina in the "Galley" Lots of fun!
Sunday is a lazy recovery day, where we sail up the lake (Or wherever) and swim and drink and sail (just like every day pretty much!!!)
Monday more of the same.

People come and go as they please. no real times, just a relaxing sail swim eat kind of time. We might try to get in a night sail, who knows, and each night, we all collect typically on B DOCK and sit around telling stories, and kidding around.

First timers will be getting used to things, getting to know folks, etc. Second timers will kinda know how it goes, and so on. It is really a great time to get to know others, and make friends, drink and eat and sail and swim.

I think that sums it up.....
Be sure to be in contact with Steve, that way he knows numbers of people and such.
