I agree about the sailing characteristics of the 16 vs 23.

Can a 6' adult comfortably sit in the CP19 cabin?

Would it be difficult for a solo person to rig the CP19 alone?

Arch,

I am 6', 250, had a CP 19 for seven years. I trailered it all over NC, raising the mast myself, overnightng very comfortably, etc. I never noticed an issue sitting in the cockpit.

After my 19 was severely damaged, and I sold her, I got a Suncat. That was hard to sit up in.

Anyway, I have a 23 now, and I like it. It has been too long since I had the 19 for me to really compare and contrast, but I will say I sometimes wish I could more easily retrieve and haul to another place to sail once in awhile. I have been putting that off for various reasons, but my friends who have had 23s did not trailer different places each weekend, just did so for a special trip.

Anyway, my thoughts are that both are awesome boats, and the more trailering you want to do, the more you want the 19.

After putting a lot of miles on the 19's, and recently putting maybe a hundred on our 23, I'd have to say that the 23 points higher  than the 19. I am able to sail the 23 at around a forty degree apparent wind angle without pinching, but having no wind instrument on either of the 19's, I can reasonably guesstimate it was not happy at anything much less than fifty degrees apparent.

I didn't even realize until today that CP doesn't make the CP19 anymore.    I guess they sort of replaced it with the Eclipse.  I don't know why I haven't considered that as an option.  Seems to fall right in between the P19 and CP23.

I need to do some more research on those.

Kinda weird not having a transom though.

HeaveToo

Not having a transom is great for getting on and off of the boat.  Especially if you are getting into a dinghy.

I would imagine that a 23 could be found for a better price since there is a used market out there for them.
