The following address gets you to a bunch of information on cats in general.

There are mentions of Picnic Cats, Suncats and Horizon Cats in addition to other makes.  This may have been posted here before, but could still be of interest to some of the newer people.  I've had this downloaded for a couple of years now and forget where I first found it (maybe The Trailer Sailor catboat forum?)

Catnip

The person I bought my Picnic Cat from passed on a binder of information his seller had collected, including a hard copy of this manual. I'm finding it very helpful.

Jon,

I was in contact with the author of the Sailing Manual, Ed Steinfeld, in January. He's no longer actively updating the manual, but sent me the latest edition, now up to 163 pages. I posted it on the Yahoo Picnic Cat site in the files section.

Ed shared the story behind the manual. He had been a Herreshoff Islander 21 sloop sailor and always hoped to continue sailing in a catboat; this was the result of his research. For him, the Picnic Cat seemed to be the best fit, but unfortunately life got in the way and he never was able to buy a boat. At this point he has accepted that there isn't a catboat in his future and has turned his attention to other interests.

I've invited him to join us for a sail sometime, we're only about an hour away. I hope he'll accept, but I fear he'd only see it as more torture.
