No Identification?

My boat partner and I took our new Legacy out on a lake in Orlando a few days ago and afterwords I realized there was NO identification on the boat or sails except the little dinky logo on the stern end of the silver stripe on the hull. I'm just wondering if this was a fluke. I can't remember the sail manufacturer-Rinco, Renniger..? but that was the only id on the sails(no numbers either). I sent a note to Compact and they said they didn't realize the sails (at least ours) didn't have the Compac logo on it. When we get the logo, any tips on if should we sew or glue the sucker on? Thanks

To be honest I have only seen them as self adhesive backed and they apply that way.

What I want to know though is on mine, they arent placed in the same spot on either side...... they are staggared and dont touch one another so you can kinda see them in different spots... I hope that makes sense..... Anyway, why would they stagger them? Why not since it is a circle, just put them in the same spot?

stagger to eliminate hard spots that spoil the shape...

Hi,

My 2013 Legacy has Doyle sails, and I have the Com-Pac Logo semi cirlcle on the mainsail.  I think they're staggered on opposite sides.  I think it's a thin applique on the sail, maybe an iron on???  To tell the truth, I wonder if it might be better to have the logo missing over the long run, bacause if it falls off after so many times being stuffed back into the sack, the difference in weathered color may look bad?

Anyway, here's your chance to design a bolder, less obscure brand for Com-Pac and put it on your sails!  The semi circle with the arrows always leaves me scratching my head about how that really enhances the "brand" or sells more boats??

Hummmmm,
I was thinking that sewing it on might be best because, you're right-if I glue it, after awhile it may fall off and things would look "tackey"..... We'll wait and see what they send me. Maybe my new "burger" will be sufficient-ha!

My CP-19 original 1996 main sail from Johnson Sails had no hull number on them.
I do have the sewn-on Com-Pac logo on the main sail, both sides.

And of course the ship's I.D. is embossed in the fiberglass on the transom in the upper right hand corner as well as under the quarter birth on the starboard side.
Unusual as it may be ...

The Hull number '588' is under the quarter birth cushion as a printed tag that has been clear epoxied down right on top of the grey painted board creating the quarter birth.

Comfort & Joy --:>Boat Registration reads--> HUTC [make].
This particular boat has it's number molded in the upper starboard area of the transom and is...ABV00588B696.
ABV=Hutchins [Boat Manufacture code]
00588=the 588th hull built.
B=*September. The month boat was built.
6=Day in the month this boat hull was molded.
96=The year the hull was molded.

*A=Aug, B=Sept, C=Oct, D=Nov, E=Dec, F=Jan, G=Feb, H=March, I=April, J=May, k=June, L=July.

Hutch; The Com Pac 19 XL is 20'-1" long with bow sprit included.

Skip,
I may sew the logo(s) on after I get it/them and dwell on it (and find someone with better stitching/sewing skills than me).
I'm surprised our hull # is so high for the Legacy-ABV16077107. I read somewhere that Compac-Hutchins was pumping out around 100 boats a year, but according to the #s, they are stamping out a large quantity of Legacy's in the last 8 years. I'm surprised there aren't more photos or videos on the web of them or more than a handful registered with the CYOA.
As I questioned, George the other day, when talking about his "Burgers" I would think Compac would be happy to promote the CYOA since it is such a wealth or information for Compac owners. Makes me wonder if the hull #s started at 500 (or higher).
Peace,

Well, age strikes again. After we finally got delivery of the boat and brought it to Melbourne and put the sails up, bingo-the main DOES have the logos. Neither of us could remember seeing them before. It's going to be an interesting summer...man, I forgot how much cr#p you need to buy for a new boat!

Uncle Mike,
I think your hull is #77 and the 16 refers to length.

Hummmm-that would make more sense, however, that would would possibly corn-fuse people who might think it was the previous version, since the Legacy is not usually referred to as a 16 footer, but a 17 footer.

Uncle Mike,
Maybe the "16" is the model number for the Legacy. Here is the HIN of an Eclipse I saw recently. ABV18071I314. The 18 is the model number for the Eclipse. The boat was the 71st Legacy made.
I don't know when model numbers became part of the HIN.

Hi guys. My Legacy's  # is ABV16042C010.  It is a 2010. I don't think mine would be hull #42 being a 2010
