I had obligations to take my wife, one of her friends and her husband for a sail on Mothers Day.  As always when you HAVE to go sailing the weather turns a little nasty.  It was a nice sunny day but by the time we went out it was blowing 17-26 and mostly 26mph.   I reefed the main with the intention of putting out a little jib when I saw how things were going.  Let me report the Eclipse sails quite well under those conditions with only the reefed main.  You are not going to win any races but we were making 4.O-4.5 knots to windward (not as close hauled as with the jib, but not bad) and on a broad reach we were hitting a steady 5.0 with an occasional 5.7.  I was really surprised that the Eclipse was that responsive under a reefed main only.  It was a great sail with little work as we had no jib to mess with.  Anyone had experience sailing the Eclipse under main only let me know what you thought.
