I just got an email from a fellow alum of SUNY Maritime College regarding :

FYI, I just learned that a friend of mine has an exclusive listing to sell a "moderate" size Marina on the Salem River, NJ just off Delaware Bay.  It is not a multi-listing and does not yet have a "for sale" sign posted.  Apparently, the seller is very motivated to sell, ASAP.

I can see from driving by that there is a considerable number of floating docks stored on shore; a building with storage on 4 levels for small boats (approximately 25' x 100'?); a travel lift; an out building / shed; and a good long bulkhead dock on the river where tug and barge traffic used to travel - with good river frontage and road frontage.  Also, I know that it is in a USDA Rural Development area which would offer potential funding for development.

I thought it could be something that one of you might be interested in.  If so, give me a call and I can give you some additional information and the right contact information.

Sincerely,

Oh boy...can you just imagine? I know enough to know it's a hard business. But what business isn't hard these days, eh?

Thanks for the head up on the marina for sail. How does anyone run a marina, I can't even keep one boat clean and ready to sail let alone a marina.

rogerschwake,

Don't worry, Bob23 will buy it and everything will be all right. Service will be so great you won't have to lift a finger, just go out sailing every day and enjoy your boat.

We'll all have a place to go and hang out during the summer months just off the Delaware Bay. However, as far as winter goes - forgetaboutit!

I'm curious what Hurricane Sandy's storm surge did to this marina. I know that 40 miles up the Hudson, she caused significant damage to boats.
The only way I'll even consider buying this is if TG agrees to be the Director of Wine Tasting and related activities, Nemo takes the position of Technical Director in charge of Modifications to Compac Yachts, Mike Greene fills the position of dingy racing coordinator and Crazy Carl the social director with an emphasis on retailing coconut bras with the Compac insignia.
Don't worry, the rest of you- I'll find something for you to do. Salty has already taken the position of Head Barnacle Scraper and Skip will be our liason with the White House. Maybe not.
Interestingly enough, I think this is the marina where I'd planned to launch from if I do the C&D Canal/ Chesapeake expedition.
Bob23...I might go check it out!
