Just got off the phone with National Sails (THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUGGESTION). They had the P dimension at 15.25 for ALL 16s, the foot on the bowsprit model was shorter on the main - said they'd done 100s and learned early on the 16.25 spec was not correct.  Their price was GREAT.  Main and 130% jib for less than $450.  Told them when I get sails (going to be sooner now because of price) I would be calling them!!!!!   THANKS TO ALL - GREAT ADVICE!

I have priced:

NORTH sails
UK sails
National Sail

All for a new mainsail, full battens for the first (top) 2, 2 sets of reef points, loose footed, with insignia. Still debating on hull number on them or not.....
A furler based Headsail, size 140% with reef patches, blah blah blah, and a UV sunbrella cover. Reason I am doing the sunbrella is to save a step and my wife said so.......

North seems to be at 5 OZ on the Main, 4 on the Headsail. I would order them online, and deal with a guy on the phone.....
North is about 80 bucks higher than National Sail on the MAIN alone. Made in Sri Lanka

UK Sails, is 6oz on the Main, 5 on the headsail. I would order them from a guy at the marina, all issues handled through him, he has been doing this for over 20 years for sure, and deals directly with the owner of UK SAILS..... actually knows them personally. UK Halsey Sails is about the same price as NORTH for the most part. UK Sails would be made in Chicago Illinois.....

National is 5oz MAIN, no clue on the headsail at the moment....... This I started as my base pricing overall due to overwhelming response here. They are made in Taiwan.

I am not sure what else to say at the moment. I am leaning extremely towards UK Halsey Sails for sure, the support and made in my home town area, also AMERICA is pretty cool.......

I will let you all know in the coming weeks what happens..... I am waiting to see what the problem is with my truck before I buy, as it could cost me big time and that is more important than sails since I am able to sail the boat right now.....

Thailand, not Taiwan. The coastal town where they are made is in a beautiful area (good sailing, too) and is a stopover point for many cruisers. There are pics of the big open-air (no walls) sail loft on the web site.

I lived in Bangkok many years ago as a teenager when my dad was stationed there. Would love to visit again some day.

Should be receiving my new National sails for the 27 any day now. It will be hard to have them around the house with no prospect of sailing for several months.

Hey Wes:

If you would like to try out those sails before your get your '27 in the water, I will sacrifice my boat as a test rig.  (=;

Charlie - I'm overwhelmed by your kindness and generous spirit. Thanks for taking a bullet for me. Will keep you posted. Better tell your wife that a $1900 expense looms ahead. Once you try new sails there is no going back.

Wes, THanks for correcting me, I have no idea why I typed Taiwan...... I knew it was Thailand.
Just so everyone knows, I am not saying anything against the quality of any of the sails, just the origin. I found it very interesting that UK Sails for my order (If I buy from them) would be made in Chicago. I wonder why they dont outsource compared to the others.

Anyway, Today in a bad dealing with paint reps I have been taught first hand that service after the sale is a big deal, and so that will also weigh heavily on my decision.
