Actual overall length of 23

Could someone please tell me what the actual measured overall length of a ComPac 23-III is, from the tip of the bowsprit all the way to the extreme back of the outboard? My marina has a very strict 26' maximum for the inexpensive slips, and they measure the boats. Ask me how I found out.

Thanks.

A somewhat variable dimension.  The specs list the length on deck including the bow sprit as 23'-11".  However, different motors and mounts will add to that variably based on the actual motor and mount used.  Also, if the motor is lifted in the slip, it usually shortens the length of the motor and mount, however, if it is lifted and tilted, it would make that dimension longer and it will depend on how your marina views that configuration.

I might try to measure next time I'm at the boat, but because there is no clear path to pull a tape from bow to stern, may not be very accurate.

That would be great. Thanks. I THINK I'm OK, but "once burned, twice cautious".

OK here goes.  The overall length of my 23 is 25'-8" plus zero, minus a little possibly.  I say that because it is difficult to get a clear path all the way through so I rounded up whenever necessary.  That includes the extension of a mounted CQR anchor which juts out about ten inches past the roller.  It also includes a Nissan SailPro motor that is down in the operating position on the lift mount.  Keep in mind that if the motor is tilted all the way up the shaft would stick out far enough that it would exceed 26'

A 23' is how close to 26 ?? ... boy this will be fun.

Well ... really sure that the bow sprit is not 3 foot. More like under a foot, because the bow sprit on a CP-19 is 10 inches.
I'll bet the 23 is more like 22'-9" because a 19 is about 18'-3".
And the outboard about 1'-8 inch plus 11" for the mount.

22-9" + 11" sprit + 1'-8" moto + 11" mount. Best guess. = 25'-3"

In the cheaps heading for the big boy slips.

skip.

Considering where you are measuring from and to, that sounds in the ballpark. My anchor extends past the bowsprit by about 6 inches and the motor has gotta extend past the transom by a foot and a half, give or take a few millimeters.

Thanks so much, everybody. Looks like I can make it! Worst case, I might have to put the anchor on deck. I'll just make sure the engine is vertical when the marina staff measures! Now to start looking .............

Happy New Year to All!
