Correct sails for boat

Had a great time sailing this weekend with the family. I noticed the main doesn't reach the end of the boom, there's about a 8" gap. Is this Normal for a 1991 16'? Also looking for a bigger jib, what size do you guys use? 110, 135, 150? Thanks for the info...

Check the additional sails specs in the specifications and data note at the top of the 16 page.  The mainsail for the Mark II/III is smaller than the original version.  I use a 110 jib on a furler, and am happy with that size for my needs.

That sounds about right. 

The space is used to allow  the foot of the sail to be tightened by the outhaul.

As you tighten the outhaul, the clew slides back closer to the end of the boom.
