Just purchased a 1987 Com-Pac 16-2.  This is my first sailboat, so bear with me, I'm sure the uneducated questions I will be asking in the future will make some of the more experienced sailors in this forum laugh.  The boat is in fairly good condition, hull #: 2430, if I am reading it correctly, but it's going to need some tlc, which me and my son are anxious to give her.  There is some wood rot in the lower left (I guess I should start saying port) part of the cabin, so I know we must have a leak somewhere.  I understand we can purchase materials from Com-Pac in Clearwater.  Can you get things like replacement cabin wood?
We are located in Lexington, SC.  Please let me know if there are any other CP 16 owners near by.  I would love to take a look at your boat to see what we need to do.
Thank you,
Gee-Pa

Hello!
I am relatively new here myself.

Take some pictures of the rot and members here can probably give you a good idea what is going on.  It is hard to do these things without seeing them.

I am in the process of downsizing from a larger boat.

Gee-Pa, Hutchins sells virtually every component of every model ever built, including exterior and interior wood. Call or email and ask for the parts list for your model. The teak prices can be expensive, partly because teak is expensive period. I have replaced all the exterior teak on my 19 using parts from Hutchins.

Parts manager is Matt Hutchins (yep, third generation of the family), matt@com-pacyachts.com or 727-443-4408.

Hello Gee-Pa.

Not to worry, ask any questions you like. Theres a whole crew of pretty helpful people here willing to answer anything. See? It's already started. There's a few too that will crack you up with laughter. Sometimes they mean to... usually they mean to.
