Well after sailing for six years in five different canoes, even two with schooner rigs and looking for a CP19 during that time, one seems to be available.  I'll check it out tomorrow.  One thing I had not thought much about is a tow vehicle!!  I do not know off hand the weight of the 1987 CP19 and original trailer.  I see the weights for the current production models and wonder if a CP19 it around those weights.  I have friends that will initially move it around for me.  Would someone drop me a line with their suggestions, Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris,

You can tow a CP-19 with a small truck, SUV or a full size sedan.  At around 2000 lbs empty the boat is manageble, but I think you may want to consider where you plan to tow the boat and how often to determine the best tow vehicle. I have a 4 cylinder, automatic transmission,  Ford Ranger and have pulled the 19 to and from the lake. Pulling it up the steep ramp was the greatest challenge.  If you plan on taking it to a nearby slip once a season,  you can pull it with something minimal, but if you plan on towing it over the road, think 6 cylinder truck or suv with a good hitch.  Also remember that a boat packed for cruising is a good bit heavier.  Personally, I'd get the boat and then figure out the tow vehicle. You can always trade up a car or truck, a 19 is a real classic. :D
