Once again Steve and Sarah did a wonderful job of hosting the CLR.  Nine boats participated in sailing, eating, swimming, laughing, and "racing".  Thank you Kickingbug (and Mrs. Kickingbug) for another memorable event.   We treasure your friendship and will be looking forward to getting together with you again.

Crazy Carl was a model sailor all weekend.  In fact he chased us down half way across the lake during the race.  Fortunately the wind picked up and we were able to sneak a little ahead of him.  No good stories about Carl at all.  Well.... there was that coconut bra thing.

I hope it is ok to put my CLR thanks in with your thread...

WOW!  CLR 2012...  Where to start?  A special thanks to Sarah and Steve for everything you guys put into a helping make things come together.  Another special thanks to all that could make the trip to get together.  I can sail my boat when the time and weather cooperate but, it is very nice to share that experience with others that like to sail and love this line of boats.

Carlyle is a nice sailing lake with primarily sailboats.  The West Access Marina has very good facilities.  Lodging, food, and a Wal-Mart for whatever you forgot to bring, all close by.  The Com-Pac boats are great and the people are the best.  So try and make it next year if you can.

Thanks to all,
Rich

Rich - Sailing with you was a highlight of our CLR experience this year.  You are welcome to take the tiller of Wrinkles any time.  It was fun for us to see an accomplished sailor take her through her paces.  Yes, our fun meter stops around 25 to 30 degrees (although Saturday it rarely stayed less than that with us at the tiller) and we apreciated you not running water down our companionway steps like you did to Bruce's 19.  Brenda's fun meter definitely doesn't go that far!

We learned a few things from you and thank you for the lessons as well as the good company.  Also, thank you for assisting us in getting Wrinkles back on her trailer.  She definitely needs more water than that to get back on her trailer.  I'll make sure to build my tongue extender before we sail there again.

Fair winds good friend.

Not guilty.  Somehow it is being communicated that Rich and I had water up to the companionway which would suggest that we were reckless and dangerous.  Rich and I did have some water come over the combing for a second or two but this level of heel (about 40 degrees) was not maintained and at no time were we at risk of getting water into the cabin.  I've found that sailing at high heel angles is terribly inefficient so when a destination is the goal, keep it low.  About all high heel angles are good for is sailing magazine photographs.  I'll let Carl keep the "crazy" title.

We all recognized that you were an experienced, prepared and safe skipper Bruce.  In the conditions we had on Saturday it took some work to keep our boats under 30 degrees of heel, but I'm pretty sure Rich had a pretty big grin on his face when he described the "fun meter" pegging out.

By the way everyone, Bruce (with Rich as crew) ran away from everyone in the race.  His 19 was a speck on the horizon by the end of the race.

hey fellas and girls---my 16 loves that 30 degrees. the crew likes the heel. sure got everyones attention on saturday. im glad we had at least one challenging day on the water. im figuring that we came in last because the anchor was deployed half way there. at least that is the official statement. i agree bruce is "the sailor" of our group. and it was unfair (cry foul) to have rich crew for him. there will be a rule change next year. i think i will buy a colgate 26 between now and then. well maybe a new jib. i fished today 68 white bass and saw some happy sailors. take care everyone. and thanks again for attending. im gonna have a secret weapon for next year.

Looks like you all had a great time...wish I could've been there. But I have said that for the last 2 years...it doesn't look like I'll ever make it to CLR. Guess I also owe you a bottle of Drambuie!
