Went for my first sail on our new boat last night.  There was not a lot of wind but the evening was great for October in MI.  The sunset was beautiful.  We ghosted along the shore of Hardy Dam.  I put in at Four Season's Landing (Thanks for the info Doug).

You gotta love these Com-Pacs.  Our previously unamed CP16 was christened last night.  "Sanctuary"- a holy place where one comes to be nourished and strengthened.  The short time on the water last night was enough to do just that (at least for a day or two) :D   Plan to spend the night on Thursday.

For those of you still sailing in the north country I wish you good weather.  There is still some sailing left.

I had been wondering if you had picked up your new boat yet.
"Sanctuary" is a great name.  Did you do ok with the 4 seasons ramp?
It can be a little snug.  Post a photo if you get one.   Good Sailing

I was just re-reading your post, and  watching the noon news  the weatherman predicting 56 deg Thurs, and quite cold that night, hopefully it will not frost..  You must be tough.  What sails did you get with the new boat??

Hi Doug,

Yes, I got along fine at Four Season's.  The host said that they would only be open until Oct 15 so If I sail after that I will have to find another ramp.  It was dark when I left last night otherwise I would have checked out the one on the west side of the dam.  I did see the wires that you mentioned when I went past earlier in the evening.  A person would have to be careful at that spot.

I saw the forecast at noon as well.  I am still planning to go but the wind may dictate the trip.  I am planning to sail on Muskegon Lake, that is where we had our Cat. 27  I know the area a little better and should be able to tuck in a little closer to shore at one of our favorite anchorages.

I got four sails with the boat, the original main and jib, a genny and also a spinnaker.  I wish that I would have had the spinnaker to try last night but did not think it a good idea to try something I have never done on the shakedown cruise.

Hope to see you on the water.
